Canelo can take his services to another promoter, or promote himself and fight on PPV. Keep in mind that DAZN wants him to fight "premium" fights. Those are defined as fighting GGG, Oscar De La Hoya, and a couple of MMA guys all at 1/2 of the guaranteed $35 million. Plus as long as the pandemic is around Canelo will receive zero for gate revenue and zero for sponsorship and merchandizing. Beyond that DAZN does not classify fights with established, undefeated champs like Smith, Plant, Saunders and others as premium fights and will not steam them. Unless DAZN changes its looney stance, Canelo has to ditch DAZN. He should ditch Oscar as well.

The issue with DAZN has little to do with the pandemic. The problem there is that DAZN wants to stream freakshows rather than championship fights. As for Oscar, as much as I admired him as a fighter, he leaves much to be desired as a promoter. Among his many manulative dealings he has lied to Canelo and misled DAZN. He can't be trusted. He is still a relatively young guy. hope he pulls himself together, because he is a walking joke these days.

PostScript. About the only fight Oscar can afford these days is the GGG fight because DAZN pays GGG directly. GB does not have to put up that money as they do for other of Canelo's opponents.

Canelo needs a pay cut. He is not worth as much as he thinks.

It’s in the best interest for all parties involved to play nice. Canelo sitting out hurts himself, DAZN and GB & litigation costs all of them money. What Canelo needs to be careful about is the fact that DAZN could easily file for bankruptcy as a back up plan, should he win a large judgment against them

Why did they offer him that much money? You guys forget the billion dollars and the American take over. No, he's not worth it, never was, and Oscar never had that kind of money, but Eddy is quiet as a church mouse back in his garden, trying to be incon****uous after he started it all. He tried to give Miller 6 million dollars, he wasn't worth it, and Andy is living like a king. Andy never dreamed he'd run into money bags.

Out of curiosity, do you know if that is part of Canelo's contract (portion of the gate revenue)?

I ask because, I've only seen that Oscar signed a contract with Canelo to pay him $35 million per fight but I haven't actually seen details of the contract language.

Is DAZN's deal with Oscar that they pay him $40 million for only the right to stream the fights? Is their revenue only based on subscriptions?

The lack of a live gate certainly impacts someone's revenue but I'm not certain who that is.

Again, it was about the billion. Dollars. THEY didn't care about a gate. it was a loss leader, like used cars. They made the deal knowing they'd lose money to draw in suckers.
