Comments Thread For: Sources: Canelo, Golden Boy, DAZN Meet in Effort To Work Through Impasse

It's too soon to say whether superstar Canelo Alvarez, promoter Golden Boy and broadcaster DAZN will work out their issues but they are least trying to. Representatives from all three camps spent more than eight hours speaking to each other on a video conference on Wednesday in an effort to smooth things over, multiple sources told BoxingScene.com.

canelo should tell dazn to take a hike and meet them in court. salvage your relationship with GBP and move on. espn, fox, showtime / cbs can all host ppv fights. canelo can fight 1/2 x a year on ppv at this stage and retire in a few years with his bank and faculties intact. he's already a hall of famer for all intents and purposes. there are no more giant fights around for him. boxing is not investing into making stars or growing. the sport will die out at this rate. it's too easy to stream fights illegally and for free, and nobody watches cable tv any more.

I don’t even know what that means. A new deal meaning DAZN directly working with Alvarez Promotions while GBP is Co-Promoter? Lol.

Percentage of subscribers is good but Canelo’s legal will probably inquire about GGG Promotions and their profits/back end. Perhaps DAZN knows their “equity” deal with GGG because Canelo will bring money to the Global App which means his legal don’t want GGg Promotions to profit off Canelo as the company grows. It’s a messy situation. Though realistically I think GgG’s perks are exaggerated. I think he gets basic benefits and simply money owed (not extra) is the equity that’s guaranteed for when the company got bigger.

Canelo could well come back on the decline. Covid layoffs are going to have a dramatic bad effect on many fighters. Prime year flushed away. Certainly not all. But many

And yet the UFC is thriving. And its SIMPLE. One weight One Champ. Boxing has 4+ champs per weight class...its a JOKE.

Combine that with watered down fights like this Charlo circus and bad judging...yawn.

Boxing is going into a depression. And its well deserved.

I hope folks now get why the original lawsuit was filed with "errors".

As in, those are very experienced lawyers Canelo has and they wouldn't ordinarily make a simple mistake like that...it was literally get the who of who you're suing wrong as far as the court's jurisdiction.

I hope they do work something out, even if they simply agree to a short term deal while the larger one is hashed out.

Like it or not, DAZN- and streaming on apps like it- is the future for boxing and we should all root for it as fans.
