All I'm saying is, Manny was a full blown global superstar in and around his prime. He was one of the biggest stars on the planet regardless of sport.

I would hardly call that an afterthought. Sure he was 2nd compared to Floyd by most experts at the time but he was not an afterthought.

Add in how few Pinoy fighters are around compared to African Americans.

African Americans have many fighters to root for, not so much Pinoys. Of course they will gravitate to the one or 2 guys that are around.
