I’m not arguing that - I’m basically just dis*****g the lie that Mike Tyson is more popular than Michael Jordan. The assertion doesn’t even make any sense whatsoever, especially for a guy who single-handedly turned basketball, which is an American sport, into a global sport. Mike Tyson isn’t even the most popular boxer ever - it’s Muhammad Ali by a long shot. Jordan is up there with the likes of Ali in terms of popularity.

I don't quite agree with you on two of the points still.

Jordan might be more popular but not by some astronomical amount. Tyson is very popular in his own right.

Jordan didnt single handedly make basketball global that has been a process and we can argue it's made more progress in the last 15 years than in Jordan's era. The G league and accelerated rate of international players in the NBA is also largely thanks to Nash, Ginobli, Curry, Kobe, and Dirk. Social media plays a huge factor as well and the interest in the NBA is much bigger now than in the 90s, globally.

Ali again might be more popular, but I doubt it. We are talking about the general public not boxing heads like us who discuss and review history often. I think it's pretty close either way but let's say Tyson is the 2nd most popular boxer ever by face. That's still a big deal and he is still a cultural icon.

Did you just start watching boxing?

Mike was in the hangover movie, those guys couldn't even carry Mike's jock strap.

Go watch the NBA or NFL.
Mike was a true World Champ, he is probably the most known boxer alive, only Ali could be larger to the world.
Fury or AJ could walk down most streets in America and most people wouldn't know who they were, can't say that about Mike and he hasn't been a champ since 96 or 97.

Apart from Kobe, all the other names aren't that popular outisde of North America and their home countries (for Nash and Dirk). You can argue for Lebron but that's where it stops and Lebron isn't even top-5 among the most popular active athletes in the world.

So that should give you an inkling into why I said Michael Jordan made basketball a global sport.

Regardless, I'm not arguing against Mike Tyson's popularity. However, the notion that he's even anywhere close to Jordan in terms of popularity is ludicrous. And Tyson actually benefited from Ali's notoriety because he was marketed as the next saviour of the sport after Ali retired, despite not being as talented. Jordan on the other hand made a sport not popular outside America a global sport.

Jordan more popular than Curry and Lebron right now across the globe?

I love the NBA but I find that surprising. I definitely think Kobe is up there as well.

I've seen Curry make huge waves in places like China so idk that hes isn't popular outside of north America but I think we can both agree that when Fury retires he will be more popular than Jordan, Ali, Maradona, Pele, Zidane, Pacquiao, Mbappe, Tyson, Lebron, Kobe, Rooney, Messi, and Neymar combined.

Larry Bird & Magic Johnson where the basketball player's that change the game 'Michael Jordan just took over from them'.

Your main argument is a pair of shoes? That is just materialism mate 'People idolize american brands and culture' This creates a illusion.

Mike Tyson as a man is more popular than Michael Jordan 'I have stated this before anyway, already proven my point'.

LMAO. Obviously, Jordan is more popular than Lebron and Curry. Curry isn't even that popular outside North America and perhaps basketball crazy China.

LMAO at Fury. Fury doesn't even have the appeal and style to be as popular as AJ.

LMAOOOO. Changing the game in America doesn't translate to making it a global sport. No one knows Larry Bird and Magic Johnson outside North America. LMAO.

I just got bored of yer redundant argument. Use google and no matter the list you find there, Mike Tyson isn't close to Michael Jordan. Jordan is top-5 on every list and Tyson isn't top-10 on any list. That should tell you all you need to know.
