"Mercer could have stopped him". Like he did with Jesse ferguson? "David Tua"- literally a rip off Mike tyson. Ibeabuchi? Would prolly be a repition of the Ruddock fights.

It's true that Tyson fought in the strongest or second strongest HW era ever and barely fought the best, and the few he did face mostly beat him up. I don't rank Tyson as a top 10 ATG and many historians don't either.
He fought 15/50 fights in the 90s lol, how is that his era? Anyway, he still managed to unify 2 titles that era. So?

I agree with this statement. I have always thought that Tyson was overrated.

    He fought Evander.

Evander was renowned for having a good chin.
True, holyfield was tough but before holyfield not anyone really.
No I don't think he purposely avoided them to be frank

Ray Mercer couldn't even beat Jesse ferguson let alone tyson.

    - - What grade U in then.

Gonna fight Mercer for warm up rds before Lewis, but Lewis sued and then sweetened the Pot to pay off Mercer with extra for Mike.

    1st grade?

errrrrrrrrrr......because Don King already lined up and gave him a fight against a complete bum in Peter McNugget for $20,000,000 and lined him up another easy fight against Mathis Jr for the same money and then two easy championship fights. By the time Tyson had fought Holyfield he has already made closed to $100,000,000 for 4 very easy fights. What did Ray Mercer offer, apart from a headache?

Why would he take on a high risk low reward fight against Ray Mercer? They always planned the path of least resistance and highest money.

    Who?

Yes, his team didn’t want him to fight anybody dangerous in the late 90’s and early 00’s. That can’t be denied. But he can’t be accused of ducking guys like Morrison, Bowe and Foreman before that period.
