Who Had a Better Career- Joe Calzaghe or Ricardo Lopez?

Both made 20+ defenses of ABC titles.

    Both retired undefeated.

Both had some good names on their ledgers but not a lot.

So who had the better career?

For me, it's very close but I give an edge to Calzaghe for the Kessler fight. I think that was a bit taller order than Lopez' unification fights with Alvarez, one of which many thought he lost and Calzaghe only needed one fight to convincingly beat Kessler. But it's very close and a vote for Lopez is very reasonable.

    What do you guys think?

Another of Lopez best wins was against Saman Sorjaturong who at the time was like a 90’s version of Rungvisai he knocked out the great Chiquita Gonzalez, Lopez destroyed him in 2 rds Saman later went on to dominate at a higher division for years and like Rungvisai was a hellacious puncher.

Lopez had better wins than Calzaghe but were talking 30 yrs ago alott of today’s fans only go back 8-10 yrs.

Lopez record vs hall of Famers is 5-0-1... Calzaghe is 3-0 but two of those hof’ers were RJJ and Bernard Hopkins at the tail end of their careers I think Bernard was like 3-3 in his previous fights before joe and RJJ was like 2-2 or something like that... it wasn’t the best versions fo themselves... I’ll take the great finito lopez all day

Calzaghe had a better career due to size. Nobody new Ricardo Lopez because he fought at 105, 108 and 112 but I say he was the far greater boxer who had much better skills than Joe. To bad he wasn't a Welter Weight

Yeah his win over Sorjatorong was solid. Of course, the Thai fighter had way less experience at the time and Chiquita did drop him twice in their fight. Fight of the year for '95. I remember seeing it live. Great damn fight.

It's very close. I don't think either had "way better wins".
