Can’t really blame Povetkin’s team for signing it when they did. He was coming off a draw and where else Was he going to be in a pay-per-view fight? never mind two...

It was a great opportunity that point and getting a rematch PPV is probably a bonus, considering where he was a few months ago.

So despite where the rematch is, all things considered, Povetkin has done great out of it financially at this stage in his career.
Same as Andy. Whyte will probably get paid more for the rematch too. Getting paid more than the guy who KOd him helps demoralize the other guy. Andy got 15 mil out of the rematch, but AJ got more.

Yeah but that’s the way it is and you can’t really blame them for signing when they know they can’t make that money elsewhere. Just part of the business, fair or not.

I don't think for a second Povetkin would be demoralized because he is getting less money. Lebedev used to wear special forces beret for the ring walk, but it's Povetkin who's the real soldier inside. Have you ever read about Povetkin complaining about money? Hell, have you ever read Povetkin say *anything* of substance apart from 'have gloves, will travel, thank you to the fans?'.

Povetkin is very different from, say, the Klitschko brothers. He keeps a low profile. He still trains in the same gym in the small city where he lives, 100 miles south of Moscow. Povetkin doesn't compare himself to Whyte. Whyte, along with everyone else who does not speak Russian, is 'them'. He comes to do a job, does it and goes back.

I just read the latest bbboc guidlines and its now a minimum of 28 to 45 days decided by the ringside doctor, it had been 6 weeks for as far back as i remember but i should have checked before posting.

Good Luck To Him! Seems way too soon, his Punch Resistance is going to be very shaky after that Vicious KO

PRIDE can be a gift and a curse for some people

It is a bit unfair for Povetkin to have back to back fights at this age. When you body ages, you need more rest in between to let it heal and adjust. A feb/mar bout would have been advantageous for Povetkin in that it gives him time to rest his body and also balloons Whyte so he has to first reduce his weight when he starts camp again.

We saw what happened to Wilder when he fought in Nov and then again in Feb. Doesn't look good for Povetkin.

Not really. Many sports are broadcast on television for free yet people still stream them illegally.

Once you cross that threshold of legality you could make it $1 and these people still would not pay.
