Do Hayman fans really exist? I cannot imagine someone being a fan of a promoter.

Most people seem worried about a medical suspension instead of the actual fight . Boxing has taking a back seat again ,the forum went from worrying about networks Then promoters to now medical suspensions . Ha

Can’t really blame Povetkin’s team for signing it when they did. He was coming off a draw and where else Was he going to be in a pay-per-view fight? never mind two...

It was a great opportunity that point and getting a rematch PPV is probably a bonus, considering where he was a few months ago.

So despite where the rematch is, all things considered, Povetkin has done great out of it financially at this stage in his career.
Agree. Povetkin has done it once and beleives he can do it again. What other big fight is out there for him? Fury, Wilder, Joshua are all tied up. Andy Ruiz doesn't seem to decide if and when he's coming back. Ortiz is no money and big risk. Even Usyk is tied up with Chisora.

While Povetkin was expected to lose the first time around, it's a 50/50 fight now. What more could the fans wish for?

Promoters feel like they can charge more money to tap into it. I agree that stuff should be cheaper and/or cards should be a bit more stacked though.

A promoters job is to build a group of guys up so when they reach the top they are worth the PPV demand when they fight each other. Oscar was the last guy who did it right. He fought too guys in interesting fights where either there was beef / rivalry between him and his opponent (Vargas / Trinidad), or the other dude was really good or really popular. Otherwise he would fight on HBO.

You didnt catch him fighting the likes of a washed up Amir khan on PPV Like Canelo and Crawford, or a Robert Guerrero like Mayweather. Ppv was for big fights w big stakes.
Bingo, the American market pays so much more because American boxing fans and sports fans in general will pay for big fights and fight cards. CertInly British militants don’t criticise UFC or Top Rank, they go after Haymon.....that’s by design....

Exactly. He was saying he’s very happy to do the rematch straight after the fight. He’s not ******. Another pay-per-view fight against somebody he just ironed out. He must be delighted with that and won’t care about the location. With everyone tied up, this is still the biggest and best money fight for him available.

Considering he was coming off a draw and seemed to just be hovering around the top 10 waiting for fights, he probably feels like he’s hit the jackpot getting 2 PPV fights. Easy to understand why he signed, even with a rematch clause not in his favour in terms of when and where.

Good turnaround time, can-could never understand why some boxers fight once or twice a year, unless you get to Canelo, or Mayweather level.

I think he doesn’t have much choice.

This is only a pay-per-view fight now because it’s a rematch. If Dillian had just lost and not took the rematch, His next fight would not be on pay-per-view. So it’s not like he could get biggish fights easily like he has been doing, because the PPV money wouldn’t be there like before to entice opponents to take the fight.

And then this is his only opportunity to get right back to the top of the WBC ranking because Povetkin is mandatory. Otherwise he’s just down at number five and would take a long time to get in a position again.

It’s a real gamble but I think one that he has to take if he wants to be in a position to be a mandatory or keep making good money.

Another loss really sets him back, but actually not taking the rematch kind of does the same thing anyway.
