Who is advising Canelo? Assuming they honored the contract until his fight with Kovalev, he won't get shyt. They'll argue that the contract was frustrated.

Bob Arum might be pulling some strings behind the scenes. I wouldn't put it past him.

If DAZN doesn't know how to use Canelo properly then Arum figures he'll take him off their hands. Why let a money earner go to waste?

keep in mind he's not going against just one promoter like Gamboa or Mikey Garcia did (both wasted +2 years of their careers!), he's suing his promoter AND a network. this **** could take years off ginger's career!

What a a$sshole this guy is! Canelo cant sell 35 million of tickets! He never generated that many subscribers to Dazn based on how much he was paid. Dazn lost money paying him 35 million a fight. Al haymon and Bob Arum never offered Canelo as much as DAZN did because he should not be getting 35 million a fight, he should be getting no more then half of that based on his ticket and PPV sales.

No one put a gun on all DAZN execs to offer him that money on a legal contract.

Whether people agree with the pay or not, a contract is a contract and a guarantee is a guarantee, especially if one party can quite clearly prove that they are willing to take a pay cut..despite not HAVING to.

So it can either be seen as it being a full breach, which it is or at worst (for team Canelo) frustrated.

The big problem DAZN is going to run into is that they *can* and *have* held fights and have the ability to and Canelo has already agreed to fight under those conditions. The problem is DAZN are now going an extra step forward and setting conditions and restrictions on something that is *already* a guarantee they made. It’s basically not proceeding on a good faith basis if one party isnt willing.

DAZN: Canelo, we cant fight in venues anymore. So.. you’re not fighting unless it’s without a crowd.

Canelo: I’ll fight without a crowd.

DAZN: know how we promised you a certain number? You need a pay cut to fight. Hope you inderstand, be a team player pls

DAZN: It goes without saying because no gate there’s also a big paycut there.

DAZN: We decline. The paycut we just talked about only applies if you fight Oscar De La Hoya or Joe Rogan or someone famous.

DAZN: How does us not holding up ANY part of our deal sound to you? No fights = no money and if we DO let you fight, it’ll be 20+ million less. Year is winding down btw, so that 5 year contract with 10+1 fights total, 2 per year... You’re already on track to losing 20% of that entire guarantee...because now there is no way you get the year back or make up those two fights we promised ya. Technically you’ve already taken a near 80 million dollar paycut.

If Don King suddenly came out and was like “I am the secret mastermind of DAZN’s boxing division” it wouldnt surprise me at all.

Who cares if this is Canelo, they are doing this man dirty as hell.

Leverage play by Canelo. He can afford to sit out but I’m not sure DAZN can afford to not have him fight right now.
Hate to see it but we knew he would have issues with Oscar after the **** he pulled promising DAZN a third GGG fight to get his own deal for his GBP fighters. That was some BS.

So the one paying 300 millions can't afford a team of lawyers and keep going with other fighters?

DAZN are f***ed IMO. It’s been an absolute circus, from working with that charlatan Hearn, overpaying fighters who can’t sell out their living room, not being able to force the fights they need and the fans want, mounting debt etc etc.

That whole Andre Ward situation was strange. He kept suing Goosen and losing. Then appealing and losing. That case would probably still be in court if Goosen didn't die.
