Kovalev is still a good fighter.

    Past his prime? Yes, definitely.

But he is still a quality operator, he was a defending world champion and actually won several rounds against an elite level fighter in Canelo in his last fight. I had it 5-5 at the time of the stoppage.

People need to relax with all this nonsense about a European level Middleweight who has never even fought for a world title beating him.

And Lemieux? C’mon... Max Bursak outboxed that guy, Kovalev could beat him with his right hand tied behind his back.

Bad stamina and defense. Hell probably be up on the cards and get knocked out in the later round.

Kovalev's technical ability is out of question. But he was ruined by alcohol.

I had Kovalev winning the Canelo fight at the time of the stoppage.

But I’ve five fights against Canelo and I’ve had more fighters up against him at the time they got KOed, so I’m not that impressed with that.

He has no punch resistance anymore. Anyone can knock him out now. He’s old, he’s slow. He can’t punch anymore, he doesn’t knock out anyone.

I also remember his former trainer leaving him when he was undefeated and a unified champion because he claimed he wouldn’t train and he was an alcoholic.

That was like five years ago.

You can’t drink everyday and compete with anyone in boxing. It’s still professional athletic contest.

This is his career since he started 30-0-2:

Knockout loss to super middleweight who can’t punch.

Looked bad but stopped two euro level fighters. Was gifted a belt for no reason.

Was knocked out by Elieder Alvarez, who can’t punch and isn’t that good of a boxer.

        Won the rematch.

Went life and death with Anthony Yarde, a guy who has no amateur background.

I can’t even imagine Anthony Yarde winning man exchange with a legitimate top 10 light heavyweight.

Knocked out by a former welterweight who had scored only 1 knockout at 160 or above and it was against Rocky f**king Fielding.

Kovalev is trash now. I can’t wait for him to lose to a loser.

You probably had Angulo up against Canelo at the time of the stoppage man.

You’re a solid poster at times man but your bitterness towards Canelo makes your opinion invalid tbh.

No shame in losing to Ward or Canelo and he dominated the rematch against Eleider Alvarez. Aside from one round Kovalev pretty much dominated Yarde too.

He’s still a very capable fighter.

That Canelo fight was a fix.

The only time Kova forgot that he hit Canelo with a sharp punch and then took a step back and apologized. F that fight.

He could still become a champ. WBO is Vacant at 175 & 200. He could beat Pascal or Beibut Shumenov their Regular titles. Very respectable career if he wins another title.

Bitterness towards Al Broker and Mexican Bidness you mean.

Canelo is a great fighter who deserves to be in the top 5 p4p without question.

I’ve just watched Kovalev look awful for four consecutive years now. He’s levels below what he was.

That Mexican Bidness guy is an idiot but you’re only stooping down to his level making similar sorts of troll threads.

How did Kovalev look “awful” against Alvarez in the rematch or against Yarde? He barely lost a round to Eleider and aside from getting hurt in one singular round against Yarde he dominated that fight too.

We all know Team Canelo saw Kovalev as a calculated risk but it was still a good win. How many fighters in recent memory have jumped up two divisions and beat a reigning champion?
