He's ok. Not what he was and could maybe still beat Sugar Szeremeta. Maybe.
Kovalev is still a good fighter.

We know what Elieder Alvarez is. He outboxed him. He should have knocked him unconscious easily, but he’s 1-1 against.
Kovalev almost got stopped by Yarde, a guy with zero amateur experience and who had 18 pro fights.
Canelo has also been fighting at super middleweight since 2016. So it’s really a one division jump.
That Mexican Bidness guy is an idiot but you’re only stooping down to his level making similar sorts of troll threads.
How did Kovalev look “awful” against Alvarez in the rematch or against Yarde? He barely lost a round to Eleider and aside from getting hurt in one singular round against Yarde he dominated that fight too.
We all know Team Canelo saw Kovalev as a calculated risk but it was still a good win. How many fighters in recent memory have jumped up two divisions and beat a reigning champion?Comment

Eleider Alvarez is a solid fighter, has beat Pascal, Bute, Chilemba and obviously Kovalev. We know what Elieder Alvarez is. He outboxed him. He should have knocked him unconscious easily, but he’s 1-1 against.

He was hurt badly by Yarde, but then recovered and dominated the fight from the following round. Considering Kovalev is apparently so fragile these days it’s hard to imagine how he managed to pull that off.
He had one fight at the full limit of 168...
You obviously have your narrative and you’re sticking with it, but your motives are so transparent.Comment

Going to be interesting to see what he looks like against his next decent opponent. He was clearly a shell of himself against canelo and was sad to see because in his prime, guy was a beast. That sharp, stiff jabbed Krusher that beatdown Pascals ass twice is long gone.Comment

I don’t have a narrative.
Canelo has fought at super middleweight since 2016.
He moved up one division to fight a 37 year old who had been knocked unconscious by a guy who can’t punch and a super middleweight.
I’m not going to rag on him for beating Kovalev, I just know what Kovalev is now.
I think Marcus Browne or Badou Jack would have been more dangerous.
He fought Kovalev and Danny Jacobs. I watched both fights and enjoyed both fights. I thought Jacobs was a draw and I had him behind against Kovalev.
But he deserved to be fighter of the year and a consensus top 5 p4p guy.

Only because he was such a beast at one time - to go from being the supposed puncher and outboxing a P4P type in Ward to lightly tapping Canelo and backing off when he accidentally buzzes him....he's barely recognizable unfortunately.Comment

He hasn’t... he’s mainly fought at 160, but as I said man you’re clearly sticking with that narrative.I don’t have a narrative.
