I don't even think Frazier had bad punch resistance, proven by the fact he kept on getting up.
Frazier was always going to duke it out with Foreman, and quite simply? Foreman's power was too much.
Nobody not even Evander Holyfield wanted to really duke it out with Foreman 'That is probably why Cus'Damato did not want Mike Tyson fighting Foreman, because Mike Tyson was always going to just go straight at him ' Foreman would be getting lit up by Mike Tyson for as long as the fight lasts etc
Wrong style, I guess. Frazier did mostly energizer-bunny hopping and erratic upper body movement in order to pressure which was great against accurate fast snipers like Ali, but did not really cut it against Big George who'd simply push him down even further with stretched out hands and then pummel away wherever until and as such.
Because Foreman hit him in the mouth really hard again and again and again and knocked him down. When Frazier got up Foreman knocked him down again. Foreman was a better bigger fighter and a harder puncher, simple as that. They fought again with the same result.
Nothing Frazier could do about it. Foreman had his number. Frazier was a good puncher but Foreman was a great puncher with height and reach and a sledge hammer left jab. Frazier could not outbox him either because Foreman was a better boxer.
Poor Frazier.... Clearly went into the second fight with a game plan only to inevitably meet the same fate as the first fight.
Anything he could have done differently?
Styles. Frazier didn't fight moving backwards or moving side to side. He just went straight into Foreman. His style would never beat Foreman. Nobody could beat Foreman fighting like that.
It's because he finally met someone who hit a lot harder than himself. Also, due to Foreman superior size and strength; He was able to outmuscle Frazier by keeping him at bay with that left hook of his where he couldn't land it.
