Does Dillian Whyte need to rebuild? Or jump straight back on the horse?

If Dillian Whyte goes for the rematch, and gets an unconvincing win, like AJ in the Ruiz II fight, would you then like to see him re-installed as mandatory for the WBC? Or, did this result throw up a lot more questions? Does Dillian still need work? Time to bed in with a more experienced trainer?

Personally, I think there is little choice but to go for the immediate rematch. Any other approach could equal another 2-3 years in the wilderness. I also hope that we can see Fury-AJ before Fury-Whyte now. I think Fury beats them both, just I'd rather see the big one than Fury beating Whyte with nothing to gain.

As far as Dillian's trainer, I remain unconvinced by this Xavier Whatshisname. Dave Coldwell working as the cutsman was giving more concise advice. It is true what a few people said in the aftermath, Dillian's camp was more like a fitness camp, the trainer didn't offer any technical or tactical advice, has zero experience at that level of Boxing. He gave the same sort of advice to Dillian that parents give to their kids on the sideline at Sunday league games. Not good.

Is that the end of Dillian Whyte as a PPV fighter? Was he ever one to begin with?

Adam Smith in his huskiest voice: "Live on Sky Sports Box Office... Whyte-Povetkin II... redemption, vengeance, maximum violence... Sweet Caroline bonanza!"

He has to go straight back. He'd kick himself of he didn't.

He should be kicking himself at turning down so many missed opportunities that this penny has got drop surely??

Forum, I told y'all that Dillian Whyte was a loser. In the end Dillian Whyte was nothing more than a hype job. You've seen how easily he was exposed by an old man in his 40s. Eddie Hearn was only using him as a buffer against Deontay Wilder in order to protect AJ.

I think he should go for the rematch. He'll probably win it honestly, he showed in the first 4 rounds that he's perfectly capable of it. He just needs to keep control of the distance with his jab without any lapses and he can either grind out a points win or wear Povetkin down and forces a late-ish stoppage.

That said, Povetkin seems to have a knack for finding a way to win or at least not lose in pretty much all of his recent fights. Apart from against David Price I've picked him to lose pretty much every time and he keeps defying that prediction, with the sole exception being Anthony Joshua, but even in that he exceeded my expectations. Just goes to show that even if you're old and slow with short reach by heavyweight standards, so long as you can punch and have a good chin and boxing IQ you can always at least give yourself a chance.

We need a Whyte vs Browne rematch, battle of the misspelled and reversed colours. Whyte should try and get a fight with David Price, a big domestic fight and would be very entertaining.

Was this Whyte's first time headlining?

Maybe Eddie puts too much pressure on his boys sometimes. Let's them know too much about what they have to lose or some such?

Kinda weird how Joshua got dismantled in his US debut and Whyte flattened in his PPV headliner.

Whatever happens I hope it's as hilarious as this was. Cosmic justice.

                -Ducked Pulev eliminator
                -Ducked Ortiz eliminator
-Ducked Breazeale's offer to put his mando status on the line
-Ducked unified title shot against Joshua
-Got busted for PEDs and changing gloves against Rivas, got away with it
-Won against Parker via a headbutt knockdown
-Got a scorecard gift in the first fight against Chisora

I hope old man Povetkin ices him again next time out. Whyte is an utter disgrace.

If Whyte goes straight in to a rematch with Povetkin, he will become the new John Tate. Whyte has be hurt and dropped in several fights, cracking his chin every time, now that Povetkin has shattered it, his punch resistance is gone.

AJ won every round in the rematch on one of the easiest title fights to score I remember. If Whyte can do that or just win any way a win is a win ,tough fights happen when top guys fight ,when they don’t then fans complain about easy fights ,you can’t have it both ways . This match up will always come down to who lands clean first really ,if Whyte gets him down first again I doubt Povetkin will win .

Whyte was winning the fight so rebuilding probably isn’t necessary and he gets another big PPV payday .
