Was Mike Tyson a swarmer or slugger type boxer ?

His style changed after gus died and he went to prison. Peekaboo is extemely taxing on the body because of the footwork and pace.

It only looks like he needed to swarm because he was considerably smaller than most if not all his opponents.

I would have to agree with this assessment. Tyson was a all around better fight when Cus was alive but his style was different than most heavyweights we see because he was so small in stature compared to others. Aggressive counter puncher suits him best I think.

Tyson is/was not a counter puncher at all, which is why he had terrible trouble with that style

Just because somebody is not moving, backwards does not mean 'They are a slugger'.

Mike Tyson's fighting style was highly sophisticated.
