  • Teofimo Sr:
He promised me he won’t lose this fight. I said, ‘OK, do your negotiations and that’s what he did.

I am really surprised no one has mentioned this one particular comment. For two years, we've heard from the Teofimo's that they are going to "take Lomachenko's head off" in five rounds. That's it's going to be "so easy." They were absolutely confident.

But here, we have what can only be considered as "doubt." The father is having Teofimo promise his pops that he can win? Really? As in, if you take this fight, are you sure you can win?

I mean, come on here. That doesn't sound too good to me. If there's a lack of confidence here, then this is going to be an absolute schooling. It also hints at possibly the real reason for their not taking the first offer and wanting to take a title defense first.

This is illuminating to their present state of mind.

These are many of the same posters that for years never celebrated highly skilled fighters. They preferred power punchers.

I think it’s fair to point out the switch and inquire why they did so.
Lomachenko is one of the best boxers on the planet right now but people just like him because he's white?

      Lmfao.

You know what I'm tired of? Black people constantly bringing race into these arguments and when you bring facts to the table they refuse to listen.

Must be fun living in your own delusional world isn't it? Two of your best buds Goldie and Boxingisgreat openly admit they're racists but no, everyone else is the problem right?

Everyone knows what you and their agenda is and its not about being fair. No one is falling for that facade.

      • What a fight !! Very pumped for this one. My prediction is Loma will wear Lopez down and finishes him in late rounds.

If you read the ESPN article you can easily see that none of it matches what was said from before.

The whole Lopez team is lying through their teeth trying their best to do damage control.

Holding out for a measly 250k?

And they count that as a win seriously? And that "win" was only made possible because of Lomachenko.

They were willing to fight for considerably less and make nowhere close to that.

And we got people celebrating that Teo "won" negotiations lmfao.

          So desperate

Easily one of the more emotional poster when it comes to a boxer. The other one I can think of are relevated and crawford and aboutfkntime and ggg.

For some odd reason those boxer scarred them emotionally somehow.

Picking loma to win. Not a huge fan of loma. I hate showboaters during the fight
            .
            BoxingIsGreat is garbage

The bolded is the reason why I'm not his fan as well. His style is pleasing but not enough to make up for his showboating which is just off putting

Something like that is too complex for their little brains to understand.

They seriously think if you like a boxer who's white you hate black people and are a racist.

Wow! Really? I need to read that article. Been busy today. Shouldn't even be on the forums but taking a coffee break.

Is that a new article that came out today? So Loma gave Lopez 250k? Meaning Lopez is making almost 1.5k?

Really? You don't like that? I've been a longtime fan of Emanual Augustus/Burton, and I have seen it's being off-putting to people, especially judges. Burton did it so much that it actually became a part of his fighting style; he put dance into the sweet science.

The point of showboating is not really to get the audience hyped but is just a part of fighting. It's a psychological attack. You break the person down physically by boxing them, and you break the person down mentally by showboating, such as shaking your head "NO," etc. All of that works. Everyone says "No" means "Yes," but not really. Not when you hit someone with your best shot, and they are smiling and saying "no." It's discouraging. So all showboating is a means of letting your opponent know that he cannot hurt you, that he's so below your ability that you can mock him in the ring.

Anyway, just thought this was a curious statement. But I've always liked the mental warfare in the ring as well as the physical.
