Would today’s boxers be capable of having 15 round fights?!

Watching some old fights and Jesus they going for 15 rounds, some of them not even tired! Then I think about today’s fights, boxers are gassed after 6 rounds for crying out loud!

Also makes me think when people compare a fighter from the past vs a fighter from today, for example Muhammad Ali vs Anthony Joshua. Ali was conditioned for 15 rounds, so in the 12th round he would still be fresh as a daisy whereas AJ would be blowing hard.

    Depends on the fighter.

Recently, guys like Floyd, Margarito, absolutely.

    A guy like Fury, probably.

The real question is, how many can go 47 rounds? Boxing didn't start in the 60s.

I think most of today's top boxers could go 15 rounds. In the days of 15 round fights only title fights were 15 round fights and all other fights were 10 rounds. Today main events are always 12 rounds. If a boxer can go 12 rounds all the time then he probably can go 15 rounds as well. I wish they would bring back 15 round title fights.

Yeah. They'd just train for 15 rounds instead of 12 rounds ..

Yes, they'll probably pace themselves out more and we'd have more boring fights.

yea, but they were not timed 3 minute rounds... and there were often long breaks between rounds

a round used to be... a break in action, usually caused by the referee

technically a round could be longer than 3 minutes, but I doubt that happened very often

"We’re blowing out of our arse after four rounds as young professional fighters. We just manage the recovery and breathe differently and go a bit flat-footed through the fight. But when you’re in your 50s, you’re absolutely exhausted and you can’t recover. Your fitness is your ability to recover and you can’t recover when you’re old. So there is a danger of this becoming a no-contest after four rounds, there really is."

                  Froch
Retired former world champion Carl Froch has cautioned fans to avoid being fooled by recent training videos of Mike Tyson. In the last few months, the former undisputed heavyweight champion released short training videos to showcase his form.

Being capable and being morale are two different things. 36 minutes is not long enough, or maybe you want more visible damage to be inflicted upon these fighters. Turn off your tv and dream of fights where a guy has his rib compound fractured and poking out of his skin, or maybe some fighter has an eye pop out. Fighting is a nasty business, I suppose that being a fan is too. 12 rounds is long enough...……..Rockin'
