I think this will be way more interesting than most people think. Looking forward to it.
I concur with your opinion. I would not be surprised if Santa Cruz pulls the upset by outworking Davis. Gervonta has talent but lacks discipline, and he's never been seriously involved with someone who throws a lot of punches at him.

Seems like LSC almost hoping Davis doesn't make weight.. More money and an extra excuse for the "L"

Pitty-pat punches from Lsc - who has not had a Ko in five years - r not going to bother or stop Tank from coming forward.

Not necessarily a bad thing, should take some pressure off his shoulders and if he gives a good performance even in loss, people will remember it

Im rooting for Leo but will be interesting to see how can he take Tank's punches and will he put on that wild pace he usually does

Who knows, it could be a reminiscent of Broner/Maidana. Not to compare any of these fighters and their styles, but remember how Maidana was just a stepping stone for Broner? Maidana, a heavy volume puncher (abeit with more power the Santa Cruz) with nothing to lose, against a guy who still hasn't fought anyone notable (and I'm not counting an end of the career Gamboa). Beating LSC is going to be a whole heck of a lot harder than beating the guys Davis is used to, believe me.

            Look at his last ten:

            Gamboa
            Ricardo Nunez
            Hugo Ruiz
            Jesus Cuellar
            Francisco Fonseca
            Liam Walsh
            Jose Pedraza
            Mario Macias
            Guillermo Avila
            Luis Sanchez

That is a really, really poor last ten.

LCS is levels above every one of those guys

In reality what you say is what should happen.

But - as we have seen in the past with Mike Tyson and other examples - lack of training and mental discipline can spell disaster. LSC sounds motivated by family trouble, which indeed reminds me of Buster Douglas' mother before the Tyson upset.

I'm not saying it WILL go that way for Santa Cruz. But, at the same time, I'm not ruling out an upset.

This is Mayweather Jr vs. JMM all over again. Gervonta will weigh in more than the 130 limit. He’ll pay part of his purse to Santa Cruz as a weight penalty. He’ll win the fight and keep his belts at ‘35. But he won’t take Leo’s belt at ‘30 because he missed weight. Leo will then fight for the vacant title that he previously had against a bum fighter and he’ll be champ again within a year.

                No harm, no foul.

Hahahaha, do I detect the slightest hint of cynicism here?!

                  You're probably right too!!

if LSC keeps his distance, has a high output and can control a fast tempo fight , then he has a chance. i see Tank hurting him with one shot at time vs LSC relentless arm flaring.

Tank is a Very talented fighter while Leo is a talented PROFESSIONAL fighter...Whether Tank is unprofessional because he doesn't have the discipline to make weight or disrespectfully and purposely doesn't make weight to have an unfair advantage on his opponents wins him the title Unprofessional...Tank is a gifted and entertaining fighter that gives my favorite sport a black eye when he can't do the job he's paid to do...Not saying he's bad as Big Miller BUT it's time for him to Man Up and stop discrediting himself and the sport of by simply making weight in at least one of the weight classes
