While you have some valid points, think about it from this angle. Yes Top Rank and ESPN saved during the non fighting months, but now they are forced to make use of the bubble. They have tons of Covid tests to do daily, very expensive, furnishing food and entertainment to keep people from leaving the specified areas, sanitate the ring between fights. Most importantly; no gate money, nor merch sales. An entire floor of the hosting hotel, all week, every week. They are the ones paying for the site fees. Just a few items that influence their finacial situation.

That's definitely making things more expensive with a business model very different than what they are used to.

But again, my take isn't hard to understand if you follow the sport and have seen Arum in action before.

There's just no reason for an almost 3 to 1 disparity in the purses I can figure out without remembering that Arum is a genius when it comes to making offers that really aren't offers.

We are talking an extra 800K for Teo and he almost HAS TO TAKE IT even tho truthfully the split should be closer to even.

It does not hurt everyone equally if a boxer declines the fight. Arum still promotes fights, and makes money, Loma still fights and makes money on a replacement; it is Lopez that faces the scorn and potentially worse if he is not in compliance with the contract he signed with Arum or demands more then being offered and refuses to budge unless Arum decides to offer more. At that point either Arum lets him slide and gets him another fight, or he legally holds Lopez to the contract and the financial obligations and if it goes that route, Arum can make his life miserable. If Lopez walks, fans from all across the board will scorn him, including ones from his own fanbase. Lets not pretend Lopez is incapable of making a bad decision. It is up to he and Arum to iron it out unless Loma pulls something ****** along the way.

Loma did 17,000 plus, selling out that arena in England on PPV. He's been getting 2 million people (approx) to tune into his fights since Linares. Arum has been VERY happy about that.
