Comments Thread For: Vergil Ortiz: Thurman, Garcia, Porter - They're The Big Three That I Want!

Given how the year has played out, Vergil Ortiz Jr. was willing to accept his rescheduled fight with Samuel Vargas as unfinished business. Now comes the time to truly satisfy his hunger. The unbeaten welterweight managed his first fight following a 2019 Prospect of the Year campaign, brutally dismantling Toronto's Vargas (31-6-2, 14KOs) over seven lopsided rounds Friday evening at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California.

Honestly, if Vergil isn’t able to get a big name next, I wouldn’t mind seeing him wreck Josh Kelly never liked that fool’s face. Also, Vergil & Kelly are both ranked in the WBC top 15 @ 147 so it would inch the winner closer at a title shot.

Not only is this kid humble, he's very intelligent too! His desire to fight Thurman shows that because Thurman would be the perfect step up for him!

I would also tell him to consider Mo' Hooker! Both Texas natives, and both on DAZN! Should be easy to make! Ortiz is WBO #2, and Hooker is WBO #4! Another candidate, which is even easier to make, is Rashidi Ellis! Ellis is 22-0, also signed to Golden Boy, and needs some shine! WBA actually has Ellis ranked #9, and Thurman #11.

Thurman & D Garcia wouldn't be competitive fights vs Vergil...they're both washed up & ducking...

He knows good and dam well that those fights can't happen unless they were champions with him being the mandatory. 🥊

Vargas is a gate keeper, a long way from the top. Ortiz did what he was supposed to do, he took him out. Vargas met him head on and Ortiz pounded him into submission. These guys he's calling out are foot work miles ahead of Vargas. Danny likes to back up and throw a no look left hook. Porter isn't waiting to meet him, Ortiz will have to hold him off. Ortiz has talent, but what happens when his powder gets wet.

He'd best off going after Thurman at this point. He has a name and is damaged goods as we saw in his fights vs Lopez and pac. It'd be a good win for Ortiz.
