Ortiz is going to walk into a right hand one of these nights. He's sloppy, he's trying angles, that's good, but his guard is low while he's in range and he swings a lot without jabbing. Maybe it's the level of guys he's fighting.

It's like people ignore the fact that some fighters can actually grow from their previous losses.
As they say, sometimes you can learn more from failure than success (although of course we still rather not fail in the first place).

I’ll tell you who is a ko waiting to happen tho Haney, Shakur and Tank those dudes are sloppy hype jobs nothing g else
I don't understand this race war between fans, especially when it concerns someone as humble and grounded as Ortiz.
The kid is extremely talented and works hard. He has discipline and also humility, and delivers the KOs. What more could you want from a fighter?

He did what he was supposed to do that's all.
Yes, that's very good because some prospects fall short against these tough gatekeepers but beating him and knocking him out is what a future world champion is supposed to do, nothing more than that.
Still, Ortiz is developing well. I predict Ortiz and Jaron Boots Ennis will rule the division in the future, until Teofimo Lopez, Josh Taylor, Regis Prograis, and Devin Haney reach the division at least.
Then things will get really interesting. We'll be spoilt with some amazing match ups.

It's the same that I see will be the case with Ortiz if he swings wild like he was doing with Vargas against a top welter. You are right though in him being only 22 and in 2 years he will be ready.
We are all dumber after reading your post comparing these 2 fighters who fight nothing alike.Last edited by bigdunny1; 07-25-2020, 02:36 AM.

According to compubox Ortiz landed 244 punches at almost a 50% connect rate on Vargas but more importantly Vargas ONLY landed 54 punches while throwing 373 a horrendous 15% connect rate. For Ortiz's carreer coming in his opponents were only landing about 7 punches a round. He's not getting hit a lot. Munguia can't get away from punches. The skill level and defense is nowhere the same.

It took longer for Ortiz than Spence for lack of finesse. Vargas could see the haymakers coming from Ortiz, he had time to use his experience. He turned his head or bobbed when he saw Ortiz coming with hard punches, few jabs or feints.

Go watch both fights again Vargas thought he could actually beat Spence therefore he opened up more and took chances but with Vergil he knew he was completely outgunned and wanted a moral victory by being the firs to go the distance with Vergil he anticipated every shot and bit down every time when hit and if you know boxing you know it makes it harder to stop the guy but Vergil did, by will got him out of there and that’s hard to do.
Funny because Spence is the one that’s a KO waiting to happen dude lunges a lot with his punches and like light hitting Mediocre porter showed Spence gets wobbled and hurt.
Vergil will be p4p number #1 Mark my words.Last edited by kidbazooka; 07-25-2020, 03:00 AM.

Good breaking down to the TKO
Definitely Vergil Ortiz Jr. is the goods and very humble. He improving each fight while TKO/KO opponents in a intelligently manner. He going to be a menace soon, but let's not get carried away and putting him quickly with current champions and top 5. I want someone like Ray Robinson or better yet, Yordenis Ugas. I like how he grade himself.
