All these people picking Floyd to beat Duran at 147, please tell me what you saw from Duran in the Palomino fight that's got you thinking Floyd has a chance.
I think you are not considering how much Floyd would frustrate Duran with his movement and his length. Floyd has about a 5-7 inch reach advantage over Duran. Assuming they fight in a 20x20 ring, that gives Floyd a tremendous amount of room to box and move.

Floyd is also very disciplined in the ring. Duran would not be able to make him fight "his" type of fight like he did to SRL in their 1st fight.

Not guaranteeing a Floyd win at all. I will just remind you that all of Duran's prime losses-Dejesus, Laing, Benitez and Leonard-were all to right hand dominant fighters with a slight to significant reach advantage over Duran.

Not to mention that Money May has a full inch height advantage over Roberto Duran as well.

There are classes in boxing and those guys are not in Floyds class.
I'm assuming people don't take you seriously in real life, either.

It's hearing comments like these that make people look as condescendingly on Boxing as they do.

While very flawed, this is the kind of post I'll reply to seriously.

I am interested what you feel is flawed about the post. I think Floyd has the exact attributes that would make him a formidable opponent for Duran and give him a great chance to beat him.

So we're back to picking Mayweather to beat Duran when Duran chose not to show up!?!?!?

OK, so watch how that works: If Maidana and Castillo can beat Mayweather, and De La Hoya keep it scary close, how the fook does Duran NOT dispatch of Mayweather early? If those guys could overwhelm Mayweather, Duran doesn't even break a sweat.

It's true Duran was inconsistent. He fought A LOT and he partied like made outside the ring. That guy never met a bowl of rice he wasn't willing to take on. Conversely, Mayweather was very consistent, very disciplined, and meticulously designed his career. But we're not arguing if the best Mayweather might beat Duran on an off-night, we're arguing his place among the Fab Four - which I will remind you had ORIGINALLY been Duran, Leonard, Heanrs and BENITEZ. That's right NOT Hagler. Benitez fell off because his legacy wasn't as strong as Hagler, whom the other three eventually all fought. SO getting a one-off against one of those four doesn't mean the same as proving a consistent threat.

So why doesn't Mayweather fair well against Duran?

Well forget Mayweather being bigger. That wasn't enough for Leonard, Hagler, Barkley, CUevas, Palomino, Moore. Sure, it means he doesn't get run over like MArcel or Buchanan. Arguello didn;t fight duran just because of he Fernandez loss, folks knew he was too small. The loss to Pryor pretty much confirmed that. And Duran would have ruined him, while Pryor fought a man with a well-established career.

And forget being a stylistic foil:

While not as stationary as Toney, Moore, Locche, Mayweather wasn't really a get-on-the-bike kinda Boxer. Looking at his master class against Corrales, he's clearly more mobile than in his schooling of Canelo. But again, not a Pep or Leonard. Not that that matters: watch Ali vs. Williams, Terrell, Foley, and Ali vs. Chuvalo, Bonavena, Quarry and FRAZIER. Very mobile fighters tend to lose their mobility when matched with pressure. He's alot like Jofre in his defense... how did Jofre-Harada go?

The idea that he could just run around the ring is ridiculous. He could barely pull that off against Oscar. Fighting Duran is like having cement poured on you. And we're not talking about 12 oz. gloves and 12 rounds.... and we're not talking about having our trunks hike up like Urkel, to our *******.

Floyd was a minimalist, and even that almost backfired on him against opponents FAR less skilled than Duran.

Leonard didn't really change anything in the rematch. He was a more prepared fighter, but Duran still made things ugly early. I highly doubt the rematch would've differed much from the first fight if Duran showed up as focused as he had in Montreal. And leonard was bigger, harder hitting, and more mobile than Mayweather. We know he could take abuse. Mayweather I am not so confident is Ray Leonard tough.

Buchanan was the anti-Mayweather. And while Clancy does confess that they blew-off Duran as a threat, I hardly see a series between them proving any differently than their actual fight did. Maybe Duran needs two or three attempts to pull off the same result. But that is the end result none-the-less. Buchanan had an amazing jab, the kinda wind that would make a torando blush, was very clever in an unconventional way, and tough as nails. But Duran broke him down. And Duran was just a kid when he did it. Mayweather is bigger, faster, harder hitting, and conventionally-speaking has better defense than Buchanan, but all that tells me is that it expedites his fate.

                Floyd Hagler joke fight.
It would be a hell of a fight but Benitez took on all comers and styles from Palomino, Leonard, Duran, Hearns etc...
Plus he's bigger, stronger and packs more of a punch than Floyd.

Duran was just better fighter. Duran beats Floyd at 135 for sure, probably even at 147. Duran beat some really good guys at 147 or higher, RSL, Palomino, Cuevas, Barkley.

I believe Duran hit harder than anybody Floyd ever fought.

Unless Duran caught Floyd, Floyd would beat Duran.
