After watching it again, yeah kovalev took a dive.

Canelo fought Kov who was over 35 And in steep decline , the last 2-3 years Kov was batting around 500. And had got the brakes beaten off him by Alvarez and had his Soul and Krusher Persona took by Ward , His last time out before Canelo he just barely escaped with a W against a unproven contender,

Kov was just a name with cache still living off his former accomplishments and reputation at that point

Contrary to what the canelo haters say now it was considered a dangerous fight by most in th boxing world Kova was said to be by some still too big too powerful yet Canelo the much smaller guy went in there and tamed the beast.

Pretty impressive win by Canelo I say about a 9.

In retrospect it might look like you should rate it lower, but there was a time when the idea of Canelo handling Kovalev like that would have sounded absurd. Was it the best version of Kovalev? no. But it was still a version of Kovalev I expected to win or at the very least be able to hurt Canelo.

I think the win is a solid 8. Nothing lower or higher than that.

Respect to you sir for keeping it real.

Many here were picking Kova due to his size then flipped it after the fight.

For me it's a 4, he has better wins.

Hydration clause, shopworn Kovalev who just fought two months prior. Cherry was ripe.

I give it a 4 or 5.


Kov didn't even look like he tried. Just wanted to jab his way to a victory.
