It was a decent win but would've been better if Kovalev wasnt shop worn and physically exhausted from fighting a month before

It's a sketchy one for me..

I had him to win it but I expected a little more from Kov.. can we over/under estimate him having a fight shortly (in today's terms) beforehand? I think we may have seen a dif fight but quite possibly same outcome..

        I give it an 8

Middleweight champ vs light heavyweight champ, Kovalev is the much bigger man and Alvarez knocked him spark out, it was impressive, I don't care to hear excuses from the far bigger man and supposedly massive puncher getting folded like a lawn chair.

In retrospect it might look like you should rate it lower, but there was a time when the idea of Canelo handling Kovalev like that would have sounded absurd. Was it the best version of Kovalev? no. But it was still a version of Kovalev I expected to win or at the very least be able to hurt Canelo.

I think the win is a solid 8. Nothing lower or higher than that.

I give it a 7. Canelo moved your two divisions to face a legit world champion, however, Kovalev was clearly past his peak. I also had Kovalev ahead prior to the stoppage. It was a good win but not a great win.

              Gave it a 7...

At some point, the thought of Red fighting Kov would have made me chuckle and say, "yeah right."

Red moving up two divisions to fight any version of Kov is commendable, to a point.

All that to say, it was definitely a calculated move and GBP knew what they were getting when they sought that fight. That wasn't the Krusher in there.

                I give it a 6.

                Why?

Context. Quick turn around from his previous fight where he got hurt between rounds. Weight clause added. Age.

Solid win but by no means impressive. That meaning it wasnt a 50/50 fight as Canelo was listed as low as a 4:1 favorite and as high as a 7:1 favorite vs Kovalev. It's not impressive if you were supposed to win easily.

Plus, anyone knows that it was a cherry pick where Canelo had no intention of fighting at 175. Only picking up on the most vulnerable champion available and dropping the belt as soon as it was wrapped around his waist.

Calculated risk. If the smaller guy losers they always have the fall back of "I was the smaller guy". Aka see Mikey Garcia. But at least that dude fought the percieved best in the division. I dont think anyone thought Kovalev was #1 at 175.

It wasn't a cw so I give nel o credit. Kovakev wasn't green. So another tick for nelo.
But past his best so a 7. But I've new information kov had bad hand. So maybe a 6 or 7? But nel o closed show and stepped up 2 divisions

I said 5 and thats because of the finish, otherwise the whole thing was a scam. Kovalev later admitted his right hand was shot to pieces....while I already posted on here about Kovalev refusing to throw his right hand with any real threat; I was told I was anti Mexican and Kovalev threw lots of right hands. The funniest part of KOvalev telling his fans they were essentially idiots for believing in him hahaha

Canelo is the by product of the Mayweather age and representative of the sad state of American boxing.
