I think I understand the "traditional" revenue stream --- gate receipts, PPV buys, sponsorships, and miscellaneous revenues. In this model, the first split is negotiated among all the parties, including the fight promoter and the 2 fighters. I don't understand the DAZN model which generates revenue via subscriptions and perhaps through licensing agreements with foreign TV networks. I know that Canelo and Golovkin are guaranteed a minimum amount by DAZN. I believe, or assume, that the promoter or promoters and/or DAZN pay the opponents.

I assume that the promoters, in turn, generate their revenue from the gate receipts and from sponsorships. I know some folks are saying that Canelo and to a lesser extent Golvokin are not offering their opponents enough money, but the fighters themselves don't pay other fighters to fight them. It is DAZN or the promoters to pay the opponents, or am I wrong. What am I missing?

Venues bid a flat fee to host the fights. So the venue gets the ticket revenue.

Basically the money is not there for Dazn, so people who were getting $3-$7 million as Bside are now only getting $1m

Smith should rematch Ryder. It's what most people think is fair and what most people want to see. Doing so would raise his profile and a clear win would boost his popularity. Canelo owes Smith nothing and if they don't want to make him a generous offer, that's fair enough -- they are not obligated to do so.

If Smith can raise his own profile and make the matchup more compelling, then the argument for a larger payday becomes more convincing. Until then, they are probably better off forging their own paths. It's not like Canelo and Smith are naturally division rivals.
