Marco Antonio Barrera was 29 years old and P4P no.3 (some thinks 2) and was coming off recent wins against Tapia, Hamed, Morales, Kelly. After brutally losing to Pacquiao in 2003, he then went on to KO Paulie Ayala and defeat Erik Morales in a 3rd match and was a reigning champion at 130 for 3 years til JMM beats him.
Which fighters did Pac beat in their prime?

As far as I was aware barrera was no2 or no1 depending on who you spoke toMarco Antonio Barrera was 29 years old and P4P no.3 (some thinks 2) and was coming off recent wins against Tapia, Hamed, Morales, Kelly. After brutally losing to Pacquiao in 2003, he then went on to KO Paulie Ayala and defeat Erik Morales in a 3rd match and was a reigning champion at 130 for 3 years til JMM beats him.
This thread is all about Floyd as I believe the thread starter is a Floyd boyComment

You answered your own question: Margarito and Cotto.Tim Bradley was a terrific win (3-0) and he was an undefeated 2 division champ who was unified at JWW. Never went on to do much at WW, but Manny showed he was a few notches above him anyhow
What are other opponents were prime when Manny fought them though? When looking back on his career a lot of his best wins seemed very well timed:
Mosley tried to fight Manny around 2009, even reportedly offering a catchweight of 142, but that fight wouldnt happen until Mosley was done at the world level in 2011.
Cotto was a good win no matter what people say, but it's hard classifying it a great win considering things. Cotto had a career changing loss (and beatdown) against MargaPLASTER and then probably shouldve lost the decision to Clottey. Then there was the new trainer, the catchweight. Still a good win though
Margarito was at a catchweight with a rehydration clause after getting TKOd by Mosley, caught with illegal handwraps, and winning a decision over a journeyman...making many wonder what happened to his "special" power??
People can do this with any fighter and any resume, but I'm curious what wins people rate as "prime".
Whether they are good wins isn't thread title.
The short answer: less than Floyd.Comment

Manny has a very short list of elite opponents that he beat in their prime.
One could very well argue his BEST win: MAB (1) wasn't in his prime at the time of that fight. Nor was there any official title on the line for that fight just the unofficial Ring.
Tim Bradley was a SUPER DUPER cherrypick. The guy was a 140lbr with a low KO% and n to. much. power in his punches. Had never fought at welter before. Had Floyd picked Tim he'd be getting chastised. Manny gets a pass. Sad part is it can also be argued Tom was no longer in his prime at this point I his career. Even sadder part. is Tim beat Manny and only loss due to being a buck dancing sellout who fought a slugfest in the rematches in order to impress all the racists who hated him for winning the first fight
Cotto was past it and hadn't looked good at Welter in a while. He didn't refresh his career until he moved to 154 and became the top dog there.
So FAR less than Floyd TBE Mayweather beat.
That's it though.Comment

It was a very strange fight, Clottey didnt try to win and retired straight after. He did an interview and said something along the lines of he was supposed to lose.
I had a lot of issues with my manager at the time, Vincent Scolpino. He took advantage of me. Our agreement said that he would help financially until I reached $70,000 a fight. He was taking 33 percent of my money. But once I started making over $70,000, he just disappeared. He wasn’t doing anything a manager should do. He wasn’t providing any financial help. Not even encouragement. Meanwhile, my promoter is the one getting me fights. Vinny wouldn’t even come see me in camp. He would show up fight week, collect his money after the fight and that was it.
I don’t think people understand how much that can weaken a fighter’s spirit. I didn’t see Vinny until the week of the Pacquiao fight. So, after the weigh-in, I went to his hotel room. I told him how unhappy I was. I said, drop the 33 percent down to 27 percent. He refused. When I fought Pacquiao, I decided I was just going to defend myself. I wasn’t going to put my life on the line for people who did nothing, but take from me. It was all about business for Vinny. And I’m going in there taking punches so that he can take a big portion even though you don’t speak to me.
