I was disappointed in the performance, but I don't think this is the end for Viloria. I remember watching Rocky Juarez fight Humberto Soto and after the fight thinking that Juarez looked uninspired and totally frustrated. In a certain sense I thought he had been "exposed" (as much as I hate to use that word). But he proved me dead wrong and looked strong in his last performance (even though it was a loss). So I think Viloria can come back and still be a champion...maybe he should move up in weight.

which makes Viloria's behavior all the more inexplicable. if he's truly afraid of killing an opponent (an excuse I have never and will never buy for any fighter in boxing), then WHY GET IN THE ****ING RING IN THE FIRST PLACE? that's bull**** now that I've had time to think it over. he's just an unmotivated loser after that performance. I can't respect any fighter that knows for a fact he's way behind and doesn't go for the KO in the last 3 rounds. I don't even respect the guys that wait for round 12 to try because by then it's almost always too late. I mean at least Tua hit Rahman after the bell in the 9th when he had lost every round up til that point. that shows me he's at least trying, even if he's cheating to get it done, but at least he wants to win. why should we ever waste our time watching Viloria again? seriously. if he's not going to try, why should we bother watching him and wasting our time?

and don't tell me he was trying because if that was his best effort, then you all should be ashamed of yourselves for hyping him up in the first place

I don't know I think that there is some overreaction after every prospect loses. I don't think this is the end of the world. Again I though Juarez looked uninspired and listless against Soto but he came back and fought great against Barrera. Maybe Viloria will do the same. Similarly Joel Julio was controlled by Quintana but I think he will come back and do some things at 147 once he gets some confidence back. But if Viloria simply wasn't giving effort then I understand not wanting to see him again.

So true. Forget about INTENSITY. Villoria did not even show the slightest INTENTION of retaining his crown!

It was not a skills loss; it was a head loss. Villoria's head seems to be messed up and his heart is on vacation, and there must be something to account for all that. But, like Diego I do not buy that "fear of killing his opponent" line. What the problem is, I can only guess and my guess can only be as good as anybody's.

One does not win by landing 5 to a dozen punches in a round and be content with it.

His demeanor after the fight was revealing and the interview was even more so. He just didn't care. He was not even visibly angry with himself for having what he called, "a bad night". He just took it. Championship caliber fighters don't; they curse themselves if they cannot curse anybody else.

Hope he fixes his lack of "winning attitude" and comes back. And, hope he does it fast. Nothing drives fans away more than a lack of effort, and nothing can make a good fighter become a bum more than lack of fire.
