  • Wow, talk about showing no desire to win

I saw Brian Viloria for the first and last time tonight, and I have no idea why this guy was so hyped. I was in Hawaii in 2002 and saw him on the cover of a boxing magazine cover there. Looking back, it's like wow, who was this guy and why did everyone think so highly of him that they would be shocked when he finally lost? Viloria showed no desire whatsoever as the rounds progressed. He hardly even threw punches in the championship rounds! Freddie Roach needed to slap him across the face apparently because as a trainer, he did everything he could to save Viloria's career. I'm getting real sick and tired of everyone saying one loss does not break a fighter, but one like this sure does. Sorry to any Viloria fans, but this was my first time watching him, and this was pathetic.

I used to watch Viloria in the amateurs. He was even hyped back then. He is a good fighter, can't take nothing away from him. But everytime you put a uknown latin fighter with an ok record to test a prospect (or a champion at that) look forward to seeing an upset or a good fight.

Dude, you were hyping him before the fight, you had him winning by 3 round KO.

Styles makes fights, this doesn't mean Viloria is a bum, **** Pac lost when he was young, also many other greats have lost early in their career. This doesn't mean Viloria will never be good, only time will tell.

what was I supposed to pick? Nino, a guy I'd NEVER heard of over a guy that was KOing nobodies? let's not forget this is the junior flyweight division, which is a joke. anything below 122 is a joke to me and I only picked a 3rd round KO because I went by trends and I'm trying to win the Boxing Scene Prediction League, which I am currently leading

how can you even say that? the smaller guys tend to put on very exciting fights, have the highest workrates often, and be very skilled. there is no way it is a joke, if you prefer huge clumsy heavyweights good for you but the lower weight classes are by no means a joke. personally i prefer the weights in between, from lightweight to super middle seem to offer the best combinations of skill, speed, workrate, and power.

I like watching fighters that at least have the power to hurt each other. The fighters below 122 with the power to do this are few and far between, although they have gotten better over the last couple years.

there are plenty of guys who can knock each other out, just look at the flyweights right now, arce and darchinyan, or look at marquez who has tremendous power. It's like every other division, once you step up to the elite, which is all that gets televised, your not going to knock everyone out, but some guys definitely can do it like the bigger guys, and unlike the heavyweights they dont gas out after 6 rounds and they have coordination for the most part.

well, I know I've sat through more than enough (2 or 3) boring ass flyweight fights where they throw a huge magnitude of punches and never hurt each other at all. but like I said, they've gotten better in the last couple years with Arce, Darchinyan, etc.

true, but it's like that at all levels. It just seems more exciting at the higher weights because you know the fighters. for example this weekend ouma, powell, forrest, and quartey went a combined 20 rounds without even a knockdown. It just happens sometimes when you're at the elite level or somewhere near, unless your an animal you're not going to knock everyone else out.
