Maidana said he almost lost to Victor Ortiz

Maidana said that the Victor Ortiz fight could have ended in round 2. He said after the second knockdown, he didn’t know where he was. He said that he didn’t even have his guard up because he felt like the fight was going to end. Luckily, the bell saved him. Still to this day, Maidana says that Ortiz is the biggest puncher he ever fought.

It wasn’t an easy fight for him the last time. He was losing and got dropped 3 times. He out willed Ortiz and that’s how he won.

Good interview shows even the toughest of warriors aren’t always certain if they want to continue or not

I thought Maidana would become a gatekeeper

Instead he goes onto become a healthy Mayweather’s toughest opponent ever

                He was not Floyd's toughest.

Floyd's toughest was always Emmanuel Burton.

A tough fight is measured by how many CLEAN punches you're taking. Floyd took his fair share against Mr. Augustus. Maidana didn't land much clean in comparison.

The way that fight was going, it wasn’t going to go the distance. Someone had to quit. Maidana admitted that he thought about it, but Ortiz (the one who was winning) gave in first. That fight scared Amir Khan and had him pay Maidana step aside money.
