As far as Jirov, how can one win the Val Barker trophy in the Olympics yet be nothing special?
So why is it regularly said by delusional fans that it was one sided?

Easily. You are aware that Howard Davis Jr won the Val Barker Trophy right? What are you going to tell me next that he was a great pro also?

The fact you even need to mention an amateur accomplishment says all that needs to be said about Jirov’s pro career; Nothing special.

Lol. Don't feed the trolls. You know how NSB is, you're either the greatest to ever put on gloves, or a bum. No in between.

Yeah I never never said Jirov was a bum actually.

I said he was nothing special as a professional and that is being generous really.

Tell me, who did Jirov beat?

I don't know, you'd have to ask them. But no one in this thread said that I don't think?

Howard Davis Jr was special. To this day whenever people discuss who had the fastest hands in boxing his name comes up.

The fact that his pro career was solid but not spectacular comes down to the fact that he lost interest in being a fighter. His heart wasn't into it after a few pro fights.

Well no actually Howard Davis Jr is used as the prime example of why speed and speed alone is not an attribute that will take you far.

Howard Davis Jr a special fighter? Please. Stop it.

Jirov did nothing as a pro, that’s a fact. Who did Jirov beat?

He’s an average fighter at best.

Dan, I must first admit that I was just kidding that Jirov was nothing special. I was only being facetious. However, I am very surprised at you because you are serious and for my money one the better posters on this site. Well, that view really shocks and amazes me. I thought you were just trolling.
