Andre Ward fought Chad Dawson, who was a bigger name than Lucian Bute in the US and somewhat of a dream matchup. Ward vs. Dawson was a very good fight on paper, Dawson had shown some great form at Light Heavy. Ward had also just won the inaugral Super Six, so the feeling was, why should Bute be able to duck that tournament, which he most definitely did, then get a free shot at the winner? Ward would have picked Bute apart, clinched him, elbowed him, butted him, low-blowed him, had him out of there quicker than Carl Froch!

Floyd-Cotto was talked about for atleast 2 years by that point, since the Gatti fight that Cotto attended when they both were at 140.

Floyd asked for guarantees for Cotto and Margarito back to back. 8-10 million each. Arum said no, floyd bought out his contract for like 300k and fought DLH and Hatton for 20 million each after leaving Arum.

Floyd had been TRYING to fight cotto since 2005 and it finally happened in 2012, 7 years later. It took 7 years because Arum refused to make any fights with Floyd until he was literally forced to for Pac and only for that one fight.
