What point ,you said something about Stephen Hawkins being a boxing champion, what dumb ass would follow that discussion but another dumb ass and you got that out of a Steward quote he stated about how smart Vitalis IQ was who he said seemed to know when punches were coming before anyone threw them , dumb ass ? Really below average posters on here like you have to start understanding trying to be smart doesn't work, stay in your lane kid the forum would go smoother for you instead trying to be slick . Ha

Similar to Wilfred Benitez he often gets overlooked because of the strength of his era.
Benitez was a defensive specialist with offence. You are right he is under the radar as well. But Benitez didn't defeat Leonard and have 2 close rematches with him, nor did he lose a controversial decision to Hearns.
Norton did this with Ali and Holmes.
Even more praise for Kenny Norton (said in Howard Cosell's voice).

Under the radar... quite ironic really.

He did have some great wins though- Duran most notably. Palomino, Cervantes were very good wins too especially if you factor in how young he was.

Norton definitely is the forgotten man of the 70’s era. It’s always Ali, Frazier, Foreman who are all superb fighters but Kenny showed he was right up there with them in those 3 Ali fights.

Any other guys you feel got overlooked?

          - - More tellingly Norton/Frazier were willing to fight Ali 3x and he them, but Norton and Ali could only manage 1 fight with Big George and Frazier 2.

That tells us George the top fighter in that sphere.

            Really?

How so if he only rematched 3 people in 60+ fights?

What happened to your insistence on rematching to be great?

Kinda tough after that. I still believe if Gerry Cooney was handled properly and was kept busy he would have performed better. 2 rounds in 2 years does not prepare you for Larry Holmes. His only loses are against Holmes Foreman and Spinks.
Ike Quartey was another beauty. He was never the same after Oscar, but man was he good.

Micheal Nunn should have dominated the Middleweight divison. Sugar Ray avoided him for 4 years. He outboxed James Toney and lost because he was not in shape and was doing coke.

Mike McCallum is the only legit one I can think of outside of Spinks Vitali Norton and Benitez. He was bad news for everyone and they all avoided him.

So I'm going with Mike McCallum

Nunn is a great shout! He had the potential to be an ATG had he not ended up going on the white sh**. That Kalambay KO showed how good he could have been.

it is you who brought smarts into this equation, and you have found your own statement to be lacking.

nice, nuff said. but next time leave me something to do.
