ATG are household names. He never was.
ATG fight high quality opposition. He never did.
ATG excite a crowd. He never did.

The heavyweight division died when he was the champion.

If he was an ATG the world would have paid the bucks to watch his next destruction.....Nobody watched in fact HBO refused to show his fights and nobody cared.

Jab jab hold, clinch jab, right, push down head and hold. Nothing to be proud of there.
Get brutally knocked out and knocked down multiple times.
With all of these facts how the H@ll could anyone call him an ATG other than his long reign with poor poor opposition with no fire in the belly.
He was the worst thing to ever happen to heavyweight boxing. Not trying to be mean but tell me what his reign did to transcend boxing and make headlines or make him into must see TV. Nothing. Not an ATG. Just a big fish in a little pond with a china chin.

Comparing and ranking fighter from different eras is an incredibly silly exercise; each generation of fighters builds on priors generations knowledge, has more advanced training techniques, nutrition is completely different, recovery methods, the size of guys has grown over time, etc.

Saying that, Wladimir and Vitali were the best of their era. Wladimir Klitscho reigned supreme over the division for nine long years. Unquestionably one of he most dominant forces in the history of boxing.

Good point, couldn't agree more with what you said. There is a reason for them having all the belts at one particular time.

              They’re fringe top 10-15 all time HW’s.

In terms of one of the best fighters ever they are not even in the conversation.

Vitali was better than Wladimir IMO.

Your post title was both supremely illiterate and nonsensical. 5 stars. Cong**** 👏🏻👏🏻😂

When it gets to a point where, you get used to somebody being a champion 'And find it difficult envisioning them being beaten, that is a the fallout effect of being a dominate Champion'. Wladimir Kiltschko had that mass effect, probably more so than Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield that came before him 'Quite simply because he reigned for so long, it was a form of mass conditioning just seeing him continually win'.

Lewis Hamilton right now in formula 1, is the only other athlete right now that has his kind of dominant mass effect. Lennox Lewis was more of formidable fighter, but when he was champion 'You could envision him being beaten, it always felt like he did not have the same kind of control over the boxing world's psyche' as Wladmir Kiltschko did etc

It was just Wladimir Kiltschko's entire image, to try and beat him was like attempting to take down a well organized political dictatorship 'Quite simply the Kiltschko's reign over a empire'. And that empire is now gone, all people can do is reminiscent, just like the way people look back to old Soviet times.
