Comments Thread For: Holyfield: I Wanted To Bite Tyson Back, But They Always Catch The Second Person

Evander Holyfield was always taught to retaliate even worse when someone did something to hurt him. His immediate instinct when Mike Tyson bit him the first time in their rematch was to bite Tyson directly on his face. If it weren't for his strength and conditioning coach, Tim Hallmark, and the words of Holyfield's grandmother lingering in the back his mind, the legendary heavyweight champion would've bit Tyson in retaliation that infamous night in Las Vegas.

Sorry, Evander, you didn't save boxing.

Should have just headbutt him more obviously and really set Tyson off.

Mike is the only boxer I looked up to growing up. I admired lots of them but for me he was 'the man'. I was embarrassed for him when this happened, absolutely atrocious what he did and If he got kicked out of boxing full stop I would have understood. I remember the furore that followed and Tbh he gets off quite lightly today if you think of all the stick other boxers get...

what does he mean he wanted to bite back but they always catch the second person??? he wouldnt be able to bite back even if he wanted too because as soon as he got bit by tyson he was already jumping around in the ring making a big scene.

Wonder if anybody he's fought thought the same thing about him and his headbutts.

I didnt think he could've made it any more clear he was head butting him Lol maybe Tyson wouldn't have bit him if he didnt head butt I've always wondered how those 2 fights would've turned out if it were clean fights

Just ask Hasim Rahman about Holyfield's headbutts.

He had a small head on his temple after Evander butted him.

Headbutts and bites or no, the post prison version of Tyson would still have problems with Holyfield, whose style was all wrong for a slower Iron Mike.

The Kevin Rooney version of Tyson would probably win by a knockout. But make no mistake, Holyfield was a tough son of a bìtch.

No doubt about Holyfield being a tough win for anybody when he was on his game.
