I wouldnt say that boxing in america is dead ,im not american but when i see how much money people like Floyd , Many ,Nelo and to lesser extent even guys like Wilder and Fury are makeing its insane , there is more competition in boxing then ever , ex USSR countrys were blocked from going pro , British boxing is in very good shape ,US is not in the good state now , but supers stars of 2 last generations were smaller guys , ODLH ,Floyd , manny and now Canelo , Maybe Spence in the future or ryan Garcia.
When will we see America reign supreme in Heavyweight Boxing again?

Why not just be a fan of boxing ? When you start looking for certain national criteria you lose site of watching good fights when it becomes a country thing ,really made no sense to me. The rabid Wilder fans on here is a testament to that .
Anyway Sonny Conto From Philly is probably the future of the sport down the road and rising talents like Jared Anderson aren’t half bad . Each country has its own top guys ,right now Hunter isn’t so bad of a representative either .Comment

Hah this is not right.
Everything comes in waves brother. WW was cream of the crop in boxing for a decade and before that it was MW and before that HW. Now its LW.
There will be an American renaissance in boxing but it all takes timeComment

1) the US government doesn't spend enough money on boxing at amateur/olympic level.
2) so any big tough kid over there would rather become a footballer or a basketball player. Case in point, Wilder, Brezeale and a few others are failed basketballers.
3) in the US, if you're a small guy, you won't make it in the NBA and NFL. So on average the athletic small guys gravitate to boxing where they dominate.
In the UK it's the total opposite. Small guys make it in football/soccer. Guys like Fury, AJ, Whyte, they arent built for football.
4) former soviet block are focused heavily on athletics and plus growing up in a tougher environment with less opportunities, esp in football(soccer) where they're not so good. Boxing is huge over there. It's kind of like the mentality Khabib brings in mma. They will dominate in future. Their way of life is very different to ours. It's tougher, they have less distractions and they eat clean.
5) even if the US doesn't have the absolute elite level at HW, they have a guy like Hunter and don't support him whatsoever. They like those flash tw4ts who fit into the trashy materialistic culture. Like Floyd coming out to a disgusting entity like rick ross or lil wayne. They like and support anyone representing that culture. Hence Tank Davis is already a draw, but Crawford isn't. If crawford was walking out to those type of trashy en****** and acting like a clown, he would be everywhere.Comment

Because the playing field got levelled.
Boxing is an afterthought in all the other countries as well. So the excuse about other sports is rubbish.
No one thinks about being a boxer in the UK and the rest of Europe until they see they don't have the talent to make it in other sports.Comment

Boxing is a world wide sport with lots of different countries in it now and a great heavyweight could come from lots of different counties including the USA. I am an American boxing fan but I am a fan of any boxer I like and it does not matter to me where they live. I know of no American boxer that I think could beat Fury but there could be some American heavyweight coming up who has the potential to beat him. We have a large population and lots of big strong guys so we have a decent chance of having the next great heavyweight but so do lots of other counties. I am a fan of individual boxers not counties so it doesn't matter much to me as long as he is a good champion.Comment

Funnily enough it's been recorded that American football, hockey, basketball and football have higher incidences of concussion than boxing does.I think it's a rough go for US HW's from here out. There are too many options for big athletic guys in the US that are safer & have a lower barrier of entry to sexy money.
Big guys in the average country have less options usually so boxing IS their chance to make millions. Back in the day when there were less big sports & they weren't handing out the money boxing was the US was killing it at HW.
I also think the pussification of the culture here has played into boxing being less popular + I think US folks in general what things their way & boxing isn't Burger King with sh^t like that so the sport has less appeal to more folks than ever in the US that ends up extending to less people being pushed or pulled into the sport.
Mainly doe it's the options available to big guys that make more sense to their parents at the age of learning the basics of a sport that is helping prevent the best US athletes getting into the ring.
And the fact that two of the best US HWs around today are a failed basketball player & a failed football player support that stance. And sh^t there are probably a couple guys on the scene that switched over late from another sport that I'm not recalling.Comment

to be honest its always more exciting to see a good heavyweight from america in the mix, thats why its good to have wilder there, flaws and all but it brings excitment, going to the states eg vegas and the garden for big fight is legendary, its where the history it. As for other counties as participation rates, i think even amongst big guys its very low andits only a handful of countries like the uk mexico america where boxing has any history, east euros coming on last decade now in the pros which is great, any athletic guy goes into football whre all the money is, boxing hoovers up a section of the rest, heck i think even basketball is now more popular than boxing in places like the ukraine, there are plenty of olympic sports that hoover up big guys as well as they are traditional in lots of courntries, and rugby too, thats v popular in some countries as wellComment
