  • What are Floyd and Manny's best 3 wins each?

I know this thread will get heated if it takes off...but my intent is genuine...just curious to see who foe and fan alike feel are the best 3 wins for each in their careers.

I've always felt the really impressive thing about Manny and Floyd was how they were both able to traverse like 6-8 weight classes or whatever it was, and be very competitive at all of those classes...just exceptional really.

But for both, I feel like they benefited a good bit from their A-side status as they climbed the weights...and there is a bit of smoke and mirrors with their resumes especially as they climbed the weights.

My opinion of top 3 wins

    Floyd
    1) Probably Pac? But even then Pac was 36 and not exactly in his prime or at his best weight...coming off a controversial loss to Bradley, a brutal KO to Marquez 3 years prior, and he hadn't KOed someone in 6 years.

    2) Corrales? I think Floyd is an ATG at those lower weights...have to put at least 1 win from here in his top 3...but is this his best win here? Corrales was undefeated and a big puncher...great win for Floyd imo but you could argue Corrales was always a bit too slow for Floyd and in that way a bit tailor-made for him.

    3) Canelo? Officially a MD, but I've never seen anyone really argue it was anything other than a dominant win by Floyd...I actually have never watched that whole fight and scored it...Canelo was green at this time though and fighting at 152, a weight 3 pounds below 155, where Canelo struggled to make weight for a few years after this fight..

Canelo fought the complete wrong gameplan in this fight, which would further the narrative that fighting Canelo this early in his career was a good choice but maybe not the toughest fight.

Who does everyone else feel are Floyd's 3 best wins?

    Floyd:
    1) Pac
    2) Canelo
    3) Corrales

    Pac:
    1) Marquez II
    2) Barrera I
    3) Cotto

      For Manny
It comes down to Cotto Mosley Margarito and Marquez right?

His Marquez fights were largely a mixed bag...with some feeling he lost 3 of those, and 3 being very close fights, with Manny getting badly KOed in the 4th.

Cotto looks good, but many would point out he had just probably been forever damaged a year prior in that fight with Margarito...Cotto had some successes after Manny, but also some pedestrian performances, and his successes it could be argued are a bit smoke and mirrors and not great wins.

Margarito was just KOed and maybe ruined by Mosley 2 fights before Manny...also, who knows what Margarito really was...did he only beat Cotto with those hand wraps? How much credit should be get for his KO of Maravilla 10 years prior to his fight with Manny? Just hard to say the Margarito win is exceptional imo.

Mosley was pretty clearly not at his best either...loss to Cotto, a tough close fight with Mayorga, a KO vs a past it? Margarito, UD loss to Floyd, draw with Sergio Mora, then he faced Pac...after Pac he lost a UD to Canelo...and was KOed by Anthony Mundine in 7 rounds just 2.5 years after his fight with Pac.

Floyd’s wins over PAC and Canelo have big asterisks. Neither in their prime.

I’d say for a best win it would have to be an opponent close to in his prime.

If PAC beat Floyd it would only be big due to the undefeated aspect, but lots of folks would claim that Floyd wasn’t in his prime, because neither were. But especially Manny. Manny changed completely after the Marquez KO. He became...domesticated.

I thought for sure that Oscar would be on everyone's list for Floyd. That was a huge win against a much bigger quality opponent who was not completely shot.

Oh no, if Pac beat Floyd he would have gotten full credit. The not in prime only works one way in that match up.
