Comments Thread For: Plant: Canelo Is A Fight I Would Love To Have Now

With his mandatory out of the way and virtually every major player on a level playing field these days, Caleb Plant is more than ready to revisit past business. The unbeaten super middleweight titlist was scrutinized for his being dismissive of what he considered a faux offer to face Mexico's Saul Canelo' Alvarez (53-1-2, 36KOs) on relatively short notice. The question was posed to Plant mere minutes after his most recent title defense, a 10th round knockout of Vincent Feigenbutz this past February in a long-overdue homecoming in Nashville, Tennessee.

Should have taken the lottery ticket when you had the chance.

Golovkin is being a little bitch, though. So maybe Canelo will come calling again, don't fuck it up this time.

It cracks me up how Plant keeps using the excuse that Golden Boy did not "actually" send an offer. Well, immediately after that glorified sparing session he had in his fight in February, and Canelo was having trouble getting Smith or Saunders to agree on the money and golden boy said that they were going to make an offer to Plant after he won his fight, Plant immediately shut down the fight at the press conference, claiming he needed more time to get ready for the fight. So yeah, why are they going to waste their time when Plant already has said they are not interested, if he wanted the fight, golden boy would of had a contract on his table the very next day, which by the way was 10 weeks at the time from May 2, which is plenty of time for an opportunity of a lifetime, coming off a sparing session, only fighting once in the last 15 months and 26 years old. 10 weeks is plenty of time to rest a couple of weeks and get back to training with an 8 week camp, which is the norm for a fight camp. And now he wants a shot, sit down Plant...

This guys Plant's a freaking Clown.
Already passed up the opportunity once.
Now go get your belt taken by Benavidez for a tenth of the money you were offered by GBP.

Plant isn't getting that offer anytime soon. The excuse will be used that plant wasn't interested in taking a short notice fight, despite never having received an offer, but the reality is his style and size is problematic for Canelo.

Give me a break, Canelo would steam roll this dude and Plant turned down the fight because he knows it.
