You nailed it. You just got things backwards

While GGG was campaigning at MW - a career MW - he offered Rosario a CW fight at 157. Why? Because Rosario was fighting at 154 and was deemed a "lesser opponent".

Canelo fought all of his relevant career at 154/155 and the lone fight at 152. He even won the MW title at 155 (a Cotto demand). By the time Canelo fought JCC Jr the GGG fight was already set (evident by their funny in-ring post fight show). That was a smart business move tho....if Canelo moves up and gets dominated by GGG then the JCC fight is no longer there. So Canelo staged the fight at 164 (for JCC) and then fight GGG at his requested 160 afterward.

Nothing about Canelos timeline was unreasonable. People say "well he won the MW title!!!". Yes, he did but it might as well been the 155 title because that where the fight took place. "Canelo have up the belt and fought at 154 again!!!".. yes he did as 154 and 155 are 1 pound apart. Not a big deal.

Cotto and Canelo were both on record saying if the GGG fight were to happen in 2015 it wouldve been at a CW but GGG refused ANY CW...despite offering a CW to "lesser Rosario".

We can debate endlessly as this all goes in circles. Its not different from Floyd and Manny. Neither guy is solely to blame and both guys passed up opportunities to fight sooner.

It's good that boxing has passionate fans but we should not to let 1 fight or fighter define our fanhood. That's psycho shit and how you end up like Spoons or Pac-Boy...I'm not being funny when I suggest there literally might be something going on mentally with those guys. They took it too far for too long and are borderline delusional at this point

Anyhow hopefully the trilogy happens and we get a good fight

      • GGG has many fans which is good for a guy who's basically from Communist Russia. He doesn't have Mexico where they look for the next National Hero every generation. He's not the Money guy of the sport. Give him credit he's a Great fighter and a good guy, haters just hate. Now at the twilight of his career the focus should be on making money just like Canelo does and Manny does. A 3rd fight with Canelo will lead to a bad loss, in spite of the great performances he had late in his career against a Prime Canelo. The people know he should have kept his titles since the last fight that was close. Ride off into the sunset make some coin and move on.

        • GGG was gonna lose anyway. No way he wins a decision against Canelo. That scorecard was filled last year and all Canelo needs to do is avoid getting knocked out.

          • its good that GGG is going back to the usual level of 99% of his opposition.

meantime, Canelo continues facing the number 1 contenders and elites.

You do know that that exact same statement applies to GGG too right?

As a day-1 fan, I'm still waiting to see him move up to 175 and take out the top light heavyweights. But he never even reached first base of his plan, becoming undisputed at 160 and moving up to 160. And even near 40 years old, he's been content to waste seemingly as much time as possible.

                Yawn.
Why move up to 175? To copy Canelo? Everybody knows Canelo has been abusing PED's on the sly throughout his career with full protection from the WBC. Just look at how many transformations his body has gone through over the years. One minute skinny, one minute bloated, one minute ripped, next minute soft... This is a guy who started out as a small welterweight...

He also gets hit too much, take nothing away from Derevyanchenko because he is elite but I scored that fight 114-113 for Derevyanchenko. GGG should take the mandatory then fight someone else. Canelo always wanted GGG when he was older anyway.
Nah the power is absolutely still there its just his timing and reactions are slightly off now so he gets hit more. He still has incredible technique and is tough as ***.

                    RING WARS more so.

GGG has never been in a war until he met Nelo.
His age is similar to a 2010 car having only 20k miles. Dude had it super easy.

My main complaint is GGG groupies yelling about a 3rd fight even after saying Nelo is picking on a geezer.

I say let GGG ride off into the sunset ''fighting'' more soon to be HOFers like Szar
Chatting through your anus... so the fight with Danny Jacobs wasn't a war? They went toe to toe for 12 rounds!? Also Golovkin's style has always been one of willing to take shots in order to land shots and he has an extensive amateur career of 395 fights. At 38 years old there has definitely been an accumulative effect so is almost laughable to think that a 30 year Canelo fighting Golovkin now is a credible fight especially after all this Covid crap.
