Why UFC Undercards Are Better Than Boxing Undercards

Boxing main events are the best, but boxing undercards are a different story.

Lotta boxing undercards two random fighters in a long drawn out match. You hope one gets KO'd fast for the main event or co-main to start ASAP.

i think mma main draws can also be better as the best have to fight the best, unlike boxing where u have people marinating, people waiting for others to get old, hit a bit of worse form, that stuff is going on all the time, poultry being protected and 0's being protected for dear life, i mean its crazy stuff

Having one big company own all the fighters would be best for fans.

The promoter "wins" either way and won't be avoiding on the behalf of his fighters.

Its always been the UFCs business model to make deeper cards and also sell the UFC brand itself as a draw.

The best scenario for MMA and Boxing would be a unified league or promotion where the fighters are getting equal shares of the profits.

Think of the NFL, NBA, MLB etc. The UFC is similar to that but the fighters are splitting like 10% of revenue vs the ~50% the other league players get.

With Boxing we know it's a cluster fk with so many different orgs and belts and promoter rosters. The average sports fans has no clue what the hell is going on in Boxing aside from when a small handful of boxers are fighting.

Back in the old days boxing under cards were great today prospects who are on undercard PPV’s want to fight tomato cans look at Wilder he fought like 33 tomato cans until he fought Stiverne who was one of the worst title holders in history

There’s a few reasons of course but one of the main reasons is Dana White is basically the biggest UFC/MMA fan out there. He wants to see the big fights as much as we do, although it’s obviously easier to do in the UFC. A lot of boxing promoters are more businessmen than an actual “promoter” of the sport and couldn’t care less if the card ****** or not as long as they made a big chunk of money.

Exactly and this is a genius move. No one fighter is bigger than the UFC and usually when someone is on their way out (Like a Chuck Liddell, Matt Hughes, Anderson Silva etc) these guys got beat before then so some of their star power rubbed off onto the next guys in line. Plus they never promote one guy enough for him to outgrow them. GSP is the only guy who went out on top but even though he’s huge in Canada you can’t compare him to a Mayweather/Pacquiao. Nobody outside of MMA really knows him.

There are advantages boxing has over the UFC though and I’m not going to go as far as to say I’d like boxing to be just like the UFC. The top boxers today are finally getting paid what they’re worth after years of years of the greats retiring broke and with brain damage. Whereas some of the top UFC fighter (like Jon Jones for example) are still only getting 500k per fight even though Dana says he’s the GOAT, lol. In boxing there’s guys like Andre Berto (a very good fighter but never elite) who made millions in several fights and probably more than the majority of UFC fighters. I think Berto got paid a million for the Freddie Hernandez fight which only lasted one round. Lol.
