floyds extremely smart, even tho conor not too dangerous in a boxing ring, its still a fight and u can be hurt. floyds plan was to let him get off big shots (his own words mind you) and to put it on him in the 2nd half of the fight. This sport is too dangerous floyd knows that, if you have a vulnerable fighter in front of you , you take him out. No way floyd is "carrying" a guy to make fans happy, when did he ever care about pleasing fans in the ring?
Pretty much. He might have held back for the initial few rounds, but that served the practical purpose of letting Conor punch himself out. And when Floyd turned it up it still took him several rounds to actually get the finish, and it wasnt a clean finish either, it was him tagging up a tired man and the ref stepping in.

All in all having an MMA guy go 10 rounds like that (and even win a few!) was not the result a lot of boxing fans wanted or expected, so the whole "Floyd carried him then finished him as soon as he felt like it" narrative is a coping mechanism.

The truth is Conor is fast and is a good striker - he just has no power or stamina and his speed comes because he arm-punches. That uppercut he landed on Floyd in the first round was genius. Floyd didn't even see it coming. It was a pure reaction shot

Floyd would have taken Conor out as fast as he could because he knows if Conor had fought Paulie after - their performances would be compared.
Do you honestly think Connor could hurt Floyd? Do you think Floyd was worried about Connor's power at all? Floyd has been rocked before and you can see from his past experiences what he looks like when he is and how he responds. Floyd did none of that during his fight with Connor.

Connor and Paulie would never happen because the money is not there and there would be no credible hype for that fight. Maybe MMA fans would watch but no real or casual boxing fan would. Floyd took out that kickboxer possibly for a number of reasons. There was talk that it was an exhibition match, then there were talks that it was a serious fight and they were looking to embarrass Floyd. That was a 3 round fight not a 12 round one. In a 3 round fight, fighters usually go all out and there is more action since you do not have to worry about your stamina for 12 rounds. The mindset is different.

In MMA Conor could hurt FLoyd for sure. But not in boxing. I don't think I said anything about Conor hurting Floyd?

I agree about COnor Vs Paulie NOW but *BEFORE* the COnor/Floyd fight they were in the news all the time calling each other out. That fight was on the cards then

People saying Floyd took Conor however many rounds it was to give people more entertainment know nothing about Floyd Mayweather. For a start it looks bad for Floyd because it looks like he waited for Conor to gas first and then took him out and Conor was always going to gas because MMA fights are way shorter.

Also Conor was right - Floyd didn't oubox him in the end - he walked through him. FLoyd then did exactly the same with that kickboxer he thought next - he found a style that worked against these fast but light-punching guys.

We are talking about the boxing match they had not MMA. Connor has little chance to actually hurt Floyd in a boxing match. No reason to bring up MMA. Connor would never fight Paulie because the money would have never been there. Any cross platform bout would only make sense if there are hundreds of millions of dollars at stake. Both parties need to get paid and both parties organizations/managers etc need to get paid.

Floyd was never in a pinch or worried with Connor, TMT has never been a KO fighter and a KO was not on his mind unless it presented itself. MMA fights are shorter but you could argue that MMA is harder on you because you are fighting for longer periods of times in between each break. Fighting for 5 minutes straight is harder than fighting for 6 with a minute break in between. I grew up boxing and one of my brothers grew up training BJJ and the other Muy Thai. They are all different beasts and all require conditioning and discipline.

Floyd never needed to prove that he could outbox Connor because any knowledgeable boxing fan would know this. Floyd going out of his way to prove he can out box Connor would just look like Floyd was worried and he had to actually try to win. Connor would not even win on the amateur world level in boxing, Floyd did him a favor.

McNugget destroys him in the pressers and the fight. Plus Oscar wouldn’t get past the first USADA test.

Boxing and MMA are different sports you can't compare round lengths like that. Look at other MMA fighters who go to boxing - they do 4 round fights to begin with. Conor was gassed when Floyd KO'd him.

Floyd didn't make himself look good because any other fighter in the division could have done that.
