2009 Pacquiao would have been a tougher matchup for Floyd.
His activity alone would have been able to steal rounds as judges often reward the fighter with a higher output vs the more accurate puncher.
That Pac would have gone for it. Roach had the right gameplan but the wrong fighter when he trained Oscar De La Hoya against Floyd in 2007. Pac in 2009 could have executed that gameplan. Plus the crowd would have been pro Pacquiao and that can sway judges.
Too bad we didn’t get to see it. A win over Pac in 2009/10 would have enhanced Floyd’s legacy more.

This is one of those guys who probably wanted to kill himself on May 2nd, 2015.

Floyd won, he's better. Get over it

lol at Arums portrayal of the negotiations.

He left out the time he said they could only make the fight if an entire new stadium was built. Then the fight could only happen during mayweather's prison sentence and after mayweather asked the judge to push back his date, Arum just had new excuses, the stadium wont be built in time.

Then years later they just fight at the MGM grand like they always do and nobody talked about the stadium again.

Fight happened. Floyd did his job giving manny a boxing lesson winning 10 rounds. manny didn’t do his job and failed to pressure Floyd

It's no wonder Floyd s legacy isn't very strong, every fighter ducking floyd according to Floyd s fans ie Smm toothache, Pac scared of needles. So Floyd could only beat past prime versions like 39 year old Sam and nearly 70 fights pac, recently koed by jmm.

Similar to Ggg opponents ducking him until they thought Ggg was there for the taking. Ggg could only get a draw and loss v nel o and looking like mere mortals v jacobs.
Now Ggg resume is a laughing stock similar to Floyd s resume. Floyd could have used initiative and addressed it by fighting at 160 and beating young lions like thurman, spence and Rematching nel o

Pac is still fighting fighting so you really think people are going to hold some grudge against pac? Ss m was nearly 39 when he fought floyd. Floyd at same age was fighting kickboxers.
Floyd nearly waited for right time his whole career. You want to give Floyd s medal or bravery award for fighting 5 loss 39 year old ssm?.Well that medal you should take away from Floyd and put around pacs neck, for cw against nel o and ducking thurman, spence and crawford
You forgot the part about Mosley being out of the ring for well over a year.

Floyd should then have been pro active if his legacy meant anything to him. He shouldn't have fought nelo at cw, or should have rematched nelo and fought at 160, or sergio, or ggg.
Floyd cherry picked many fighters at end of their careers himself, and many of them in hindsight weren't even that good in first place or overated, so there's lots going against floyd he has to claw a lot back to catch Pac up and be alongside histories best.
                  ———-

So why did PAC fight SSM right after SSM had lost to Floyd?

PAC also fought Cotto after Cotto had lost to Margarito.

PAC also fought Oscar and Hatton after they both lost to Floyd.

PAC also fought Clottey who had lost to Cotto.

PAC also fought Brandon Rios after Rios had lost to Alvarado.

PAC also fought Broner after Broner had lost.

                  Who is the cherry picker?

Great article! I started watching boxing because of Mayweather-Pacquiao. Haven’t stopped since.

                    I disagree with this bit:

“In 2009, Pacquiao and Mayweather were at the peak of their powers...”

People say this often, but provide no evidence for it. Mayweather has several noteworthy victories after 2009, including against Canelo and Marquez. Pacquiao lost to Mayweather, then won every fight since, save a bad night against Horn. I think Pacquiao is a top 10 PFP today.

They both were in their prime. Mayweather just did what he does: take away what the other does best, and stay out of trouble.

The results wouldve been the same. Hundreds of millions lost because nobody would want to see our dominate Manny two more times
