i met dan years ago at hatton/pacquiao....he was nice enough...took a couple of minutes to chat.....back then i used to read his friday chats religiously....hes not a bad guy and not a bad boxing guy although i never trust a man who doesnt drink lol

i did gain respect for him at one point though....dan had always been sort of big pac guy....pac and arum gave him access to pac...they let him come in and rewatch fights in pacs hotel the day after in vegas and stuff....rafael always wrote glowingly about pac and seemed to be one of his biggest fans and it helped pac gain steam......but at a certain point in the pac/floyd saga dan was real about it and wrote an article where he blamed arum point blank for the whole thing...he kept it real that day and i respected him for it

Dan's Friday boxing chats used to be one of the highlights of my week (my work week, definitely!). Say what you want about him, but he's a million times better than Steve Kim and will be missed at ESPN.

There are definitely worse "experts" being employed by ESPN and other outlets. Mark Kreigel is the worst in my opinion. Doesn't know shyt about boxing, just using the sport as a stepping stone like so many others such as Stephen Smith and that other ****** Skip Bayless. Chris Mannix was ok as a writer, but cringe-worthy as a commentator.

alcohol isnt for everyone...some people dont like the loss of control they feel...some cant control their consumption whether it be just for the night or for the week...and some people simply trade one vice for another that feels more satisfying...also drinking can come with morning after complications that some people dont like or cant handle

i like to do both...lucky for me i have a good metabolism and good genetics...not everyone has good genetics....dan is one of them
