Holy crap. Reading the comments about Dan's weight on this thread I have to say the human race is fcked.

I know right? I think it speaks to a general lack of character in society honestly. I personally am not a fan of the guy and have no sympathy for him losing his job at ESPN. I've seen him treat other fans and boxing media folks poorly over small things (Dan has me and numerous others blocked on Twitter for trivial reasons). I've also seen him provide sarcastic/snide responses to fans who asked him simple, non-offensive questions.

But I don't see the need to continually harp on the man's weight - I personally could care less about that or anything related to his appearance (or any other man's appearance for that matter). My negative opinion of Rafael is based mostly on how he treats other people and to a lesser extent his bias towards certain fighters, not how he looks LOL. But overall Dan is a solid writer who was very reliable for ESPN... he put in 15 or whatever good years at ESPN so I do hope he lands on his feet given that he's a family man who I assume will need to work to support his family. But hope he learns on his next job to treat people better...

I'd say Max is knowledgeable about a lot of sports. He doesn't sound out of place when discussing NFL or baseball etc.

A lot of times Smith is right with his comments about boxing and makes more sense than Max. I'm not running down Max but he has his faults.

alcohol isnt for everyone...some people dont like the loss of control they feel...some cant control their consumption whether it be just for the night or for the week...and some people simply trade one vice for another that feels more satisfying...also drinking can come with morning after complications that some people dont like or cant handle

i like to do both...lucky for me i have a good metabolism and good genetics...not everyone has good genetics....dan is one of them

but in Dan's case he could have used his obesity issues as a personal mission or goal and said look fight fans im put in the work just like the many fighters I cover, I too will do an intense training camp to better understand the grind and work ethic that these fighters have. I will eat healthy, I will run 9 miles a day and I will lose this weight to inspire all the fight fans that health comes first.

i agree...dan def could have gotten espn to run a mini reality series of a few episodes or something of him doing that...he dont have it in him though...hes one of those guys that has food for a vice

my cousins husband is like that...have you ever watched my 600lb life on A&E? its wild....usually everyone of those people either have really bad genetics or some sort of trauma...some a combo of both...

my cousins husband has a brother thats average/normal size...her husband weighs prob in the high 400s....maybe even 5 im not really sure....his mother is/was a nutjob who had an eating disorder...so instead of eating she would stuff her son to offload....and he became addicting to eating...ive stayed at their place when visiting and wed have a huge family meal and the guy would eat 3-4 plates worth....then a few hours later hed order pizza and wings....i couldnt really believe...because im a 6-1 190lb guy with a healthy appetite...i can easily down a large pizza in a sitting....but this guy makes me sad and cringe to watch
