You ever think you underrated somebody?

We are all overrating or underrating people. The trick is to allow your opinion to evolve as time goes on in order to remain in tune with the truth. Don’t grab onto an idea and hope that the fighter proves you right. Seek out what is right.Comment

Hatton could of done a lot better 'Hatton in my opinion completely underrated him, and believed he would just go through him as if he was made out of paper mache'.
After the Pacquiao beat Cotto? I started to refer to him as 'Bionic Paquiao' his performances just from a physiological perspective where so great 'I put them on the same level/magnitude as Usain Bolt's at that time' They had that same kind of shock value, that what you where witnessing was not normal.
From Oscar De La Hoya to Antonio Margarito/Shane Mosley 'That run of fights was the most destructive/influential run fights since Mike Tyson's first reign as heavyweight world champion'.
That was Manny Pacquiao's peak, which mysteriously disappeared almost in a instant.Last edited by PRINCEKOOL; 04-13-2020, 04:42 PM.Comment

Yeah, the instant that he got slept by Marquez. that kind of thing changes a fighter. relentless, fearless and attacking Manny was obliterating Marquez at the time that happened.Hatton could of done a lot better 'Hatton in my opinion completely underrated him, and believed he would just go through him as if he was made out of paper mache'.

I wouldn't say all that. Marquez wasn't getting obliterated. He dropped Manny hard a few rounds earlier.Last edited by RespekonMyName; 04-13-2020, 05:00 PM.Comment

I underrated Bellew all the way through his career but the man had a terrific career, one of the very best cruisers ever with a good couple wins at heavy. For all the talk of being a bomber, he was more skillful than powerful and great at promoting fights, if really annoying.
I'm gonna add I underestimated just how good Marquez was till the second half of the Pac fight and the rematch/fight 4 are just exceptional. It was disappointing how limp he looked against Mayweather.Comment

Danny Garcia b4 the Mattysee fight and to a certain extent Shawn Porter after the seeing how he did vs SpenceComment

Bellew's a good dude - despite that he used to be a bit of a nob in the fight build ups. One of the guys I really enjoy seeing in interview, both knowledgeable and passionate, and surprisingly astute. But yeah as a boxer he did go far with what seemed to be few tools but I reckon you have to acknowledge he was probably underated.
Canelo for sure, when I saw Floyd leaving him looking foolish and what I saw as a draw with Lara... well, Lara's very good but when you think of his other Ds...
Casimero, literally thought the kid was nothing special just figured his win over Amnat was just down to his kinda wild technique and Amnats age, gave him slim to none against Tete... oh boy.
Someone mentioned Fury... I absolutely underated the dude. Even after he beat Wlad I was still calling it a fluke and figured Wlad was just faded and gunshy.Last edited by Citizen Koba; 04-13-2020, 05:34 PM.Comment

Poor Tyson, he really has done quite a bit to shut folks up and still me knee jerk reaction is to say I'm not entirely sold that Wlad with Manny in his corner wouldn't beat Tyson.
I mean, he really gave Wlad a hard time when Wlad wasn't going for it. At least this, Emanuel would not have allowed Wlad to not throw punches.
That said, yeah, Tyson probably deserves a little less skepticism.Comment

I underrated Sergio Martinez before the Chavez Jr. fight. ... I thought Sergio was ripe to get stopped late in the fight. guess it almost ended up happening anyway...but it never felt like one of those fights where he was really wearing down from pressure, which is what I thought would happen - he really was only wearing down from hitting Jr face with everything in the book.
Could be a case of overrating Chavez Jr and not accounting for factors such as training in ones living room, a cereal diet, and the effects of waking and baking on a pro fighter. I still think he could/should have won that fight but I still underrated Sergio's activity level, he was a machineLast edited by LA_2_Vegas; 04-13-2020, 05:48 PM.Comment
