I honestly believe he'd give prime Larry Holmes a run for his money. Insiders say they were sparring partners in the early 80's.
Would Luis Ortiz be CHAMP in any other era

Iam assuming you mean the real champ . Lineal . The man ! by the way you put champ in caps . And not just a random beltholder . If that's the case then I say no way in hell . I mean its boxing anything is possible, but I dont think so . As for a random beltholder ?? I think he could have picked up a paper title in the right era for sure for what that's worth.
I think he could have beaten lyakovich or briggs for the wbo strap . I personally feel he would lose a horribly ugly and boring decision to john ruiz . I think chris byrd would beat him by decision if kong couldnt knock him out but that is a close fight that could go either way . Ortiz and brewster would be an awesome fight ,pick em imo brewster would make him fight for sure and I would like to see that fight . I think ortiz possibly could beat rahman but that could go either way , with certain styles and certain nights Rahman was a decent fighter.
I think he could pick up a strap in the 80s aswell . I think ortiz could beat berbick , but berbick was underrated when he was in his prime everyone just remembers him losing to tyson and hate him for beating up a senile ali . I feel could beat mike weaver and greg page aswell , but I wouldnt pick him handily to dominate any of the guys I think he would beat. I know he could but I wouldnt be confident he beats all them even tho I picked them .
I didnt list any secondary titles or anything like that becuaee ortiz held the wba interim title for what its worth which I consider a useless belt but on par with the regular wba belt . That being said if we include these type straps ortiz could / would have already been a "champ ." I would also pick ortiz to beat charr or bryant .Last edited by NORMNEALON; 04-10-2020, 11:27 PM.Comment

If he cant win a belt in this weakass hw era then the fat 50 year old has no chance any other eraComment

If he actually went for the fights when he was younger he would’ve had a far better chance. I’m not sure the era makes much difference. Tyson fury isn’t a puncher but completely destroyed wilder, exposing a weak chin. Many other weaker fighters have shown signs of this same chin, think back to the likes of Molina. Ortiz has him rocked but didn’t have the energy to finish him off.Comment

Nope. He's not a bad fighter and has a nice style but when has he ever shown he is anything above gatekeep level in this current weak division?
Was it the win over Dave Allen?Comment
