Kovalev was absolutely destroyed by Beterbiev more than once in the amateurs and he considered him to be the bane of his existence there. Kovalev didn't want to fight him and I don't know many people who'd have picked him to beat Beterbiev at that stage.

Zurdo is just Mia in every sense imo
Alvarez has to box , that’s how he gets those sweet ko’s
When he doesn’t , as the Kovi rematch , we all see what happens

Yeah, the fact no one mentions Zurdo in a positive light anymore kinda indicates where his popularity and credibility are going. To be fair I think Eleider was totally taken off guard by Kov's change in tactics.

Shawn Porter beat Usyk in the amateurs, that's not really saying how a professional fight would go.

Secondly, Beterbiev turned down a mandatory shot at Kovalev:

            Eleider was living large
L’ost focus and figured he’d knock him out again
I know his training camp for that fight was half fast

              Yes , your absolutely right
              He refused that fight
Saw interview where he made it clear that there was nothing to gain from it , but would of jumped on a fight with Ward

He was mandatory to fight for Kovalev's belt when he was fighting Ward who then vacated and retired to avoid it. If he wanted to wait to fight the winner he'd have gotten way more credit and money way earlier in his career so I get the decision.

Weird he'd have a half asses training camp but I guess Kov appeared more than shot to him having gone down so easily to his one solid attack in their first fight.

                    nobody got worked up

imo... the proven Ward, beats the unproven Bivol/Beterbiev... that is all

there is nothing to indicate otherwise

not sure I would dump money on those guys to beat Kovalev even now... I likely only favor Beterbiev, but not enough to put money on it

we are comparing guys with about a dozen fights, to a guy who is very close to being a genuine great

nobody could pick either of those guys over Ward with any real degree of confidence... these guys are seeing what they want to see
