How good of a trainer is Teddy Atlas?

He did apprentice under the legendary Cus D'Amato. So that is a huge positive in his favor.

But did he finish his training under the master? Was his development complete before he was forced to leave the Catskills?

What was his track record of success like once he started training fighters on his own?

Most of us consider him more of a cheerleader and drama queen. I think the reason fighters pick him is actually for the attention and publicity that it adds to them and I also believe Teddy mutually benefits from all that attention he so much craves

I think his personality probably detracts from his perceived skills as a trainer.

he has a good track record.

Good tactician and great motivator. He’s a very good trainer IMO.

You could be on to something there. Personality issues soured Atlas' relationships with Donny Lalonde and Michael Moorer. Teddy was even going to shoot Lalonde after got fired as his trainer.

On the other hand Tim Bradley seems to have liked him.

Teddy Atlas has several world champions on his resume, he's a legit trainer.

People just kind of think of him as a side show.

Personally I think Teddy Atlas has a great boxing mind but I think he is too opinionated on individuals to see the forest for the trees sometimes. It seems once he thinks he has a particular opinion on certain fighters nothing will ever change it.

Oh Teddy's great...I mean...he doesn't improve anyone, he doesn't foresee problem and handle them before they're problems, he doesn't give good advice, he doesn't even actually give real boxing advice beyond what any ******* can say....like keep hitting him, but he's a good trainer sure.

                  Such sage advice as:

                  Teddy telling Bradley he's a fireman.....that'll help.

Teddy tells Moorer he will cry, on camera, what a guy, then takes his stool.

Teddy tells Pov he's going to bring Pov's dad back to life, Pov laughs in his face.

Teddy did not shake any of these guys up before they appeared to be falling behind. None of them increased their pace. In every case the opponent tired themselves out and the man with the steady pace started and ended the fight strong, winning by KO

Emanuel Steward was a real trainer. Not just an ******* in the corner saying the obvious and getting credit for being apart of the better boxer's team. Anyone can tell Pov he's falling behind....Teddy didn't say **** before Pov started to fall behind, didn't to Moorer or Bradley either, but as the middle rounds picked up Teddy lost his **** because his man was obviously falling behind and if the opponent keeps up while his man does not increase the opponent will win.....what a trainer.

Inversely, Manny gave Lennox massive **** despite being ahead, no where near any trouble, nothing to signify any problem at all Manny *****es to Lennox to KO Mike before Mike KOs him. Slaps the champ and all Why? Because Manny knew the stretch is where Tyson might have success and took that away from Tyson before Tyson got a chance.

Emanuel Steward used to ***** at Wlad so bad it'd get Wlad pissed off, but Wlad listened and didn't get KTFO again until Manny was well in the grave.

That's a ****ing trainer. That's a man with vision and understanding, that's a man whose advice you listen to and just yes'sir I can and will.

Teddy Atlas is like a Freddy Roach. If you like hanging out with him cool. He's not going to do **** for you though. Tell you some stories and ****.

I do think he was good for Moorer though, he was instrumental in helping Moorer navigate through the first Holyfield fight.
