I was ringside at Staples Center the night Margarito got busted for the hand wraps against Shane Mosely.
Regardless of the handwraps, I was picking Mosely going into that fight just based on style vs style matchup.
To this day, I am still very skeptical as to what was really found in his gloves.
I have a great a deal of respect of respect for Naz Richardson, but how is it he was the only guy to catch something that everyone else seemed to miss?
He also made the same claim about Felix Trinidad years before, when no other commission has ever caught him.
Not saying it didn't happen, I'm just not going to run out and believe every one of Margarito's fights was fixed, simply because one trainer made a claim.
I have yet to see a single photograph of what was discovered that night.
Also, the second Cotto fight was going much the same way as the first Cotto fight, if not for Cotto targeting that broken eye socket (an ultimate bych move by Cotto)...
But all in all, Margarito was a very important contributor to the Welterweight division from 2003-2010.
I am a huge Floyd Mayweather fan, and I give him.all the p4p status in the world, but that is one fight I think he let get away from him. Would have been a fantastic matchup stylistically.

Easy to say this when your not the one getting punched in the face by cement hands

Better like that or we would get more comments like your last one

Something a lot of people don’t consider is that Margarito took a LOT of punishment in the Cotto win. No, he was never dazed or even looked hurt in the fight but he took some heavy shots from the best, strongest version of Miguel Cotto there ever was. Coupled with his big big weight cuts and advancing age, I believe Margarito was not the same and was never going to be the same after the Cotto win. Mosley came in with a great game plan to offset Marg’s strengths, but there is no way shape or form that anyone could just look at Margarito in the Mosley fight, and not see a physically different fighter. It’s just clear as day.

margarito didn't have enough skills to be great, so he chose to cheat illegally,
            with malicious intent.
he may have been caught once, but think about all those times he wasn't.

nery is a different kind of margarito now.

Thanks for clarifying Margacheato and here I thought it was the fact that you were no longer able to walk fighters down once those sweat-hardening hand wraps were discovered.

In addition, I guess it had nothing to do with the fact Pacquiao damn near took out your eye? Silly us, this guy just wasn’t mentally into it anymore.

2 yrs is a pretty long time in boxing. Mosley was still quality but again, was he higher regarded at 38 yrs old than an undefeated Cotto who was in his 20s? Not to mention, mosley's fight right before Margarito was a win over Mayorga in a fight that was very close and competitive until mosley stopped him with a second left. other than the stoppage, it wasn't a dominant win. Mosley went into his fight with Margarito as a significant underdog and there was a reason why.

Not only were there photographs... the commission examined the wraps and proved they had a liquid plaster that would harden as the user sweated. The moisture mixed with the substance turned hand wraps into bricks towards the latter end of the fight.

Any fight where you saw Margarito barely hurting a guy initially and then busting him up past mid-fight tells you all you need to know.

I guess now we are all in a world we’re even facts, proof and truth are meaningless conjecture worthy of dismissal?

Please explain why Margarito was never as effective in or after that fight with Mosely? Matter fact even if you thought Mosely would win after seeing the Cotto fight, who believed he was going to destroy Margarito and knock him out?

Ive always been a fan of Margarito and it wont change.

Back in 07, I went to Margo-Williams at the Home Depot center and remember taking pics with Margo and the ring girls together. Fkin dope.

Margarito is a hometown guy so i feel that extra connection.

Thank you Margarito for making me a killing after destroying that punk Cotto lol.

I made like 14K from that fight.. Tijuana Tornado mutha****ers!!
