As a Canelo Fan, waiting for the Official Announcement for BJS is disappointing

This will be one of Canelo’s trickiest opponents since Lara. Mind you, I don’t think BJS is better than GGG, Jacobs, Cotto, or Lara, I will rank him above Kovalev and Trout if Canelo adds him to his resume as a win. But stylistically I can see BJS just being trickier than some of Canelo’s top opponents, who are actually better than BJS imo.
Or I could be wrong and BJS completely lays an egg and just runs for his life in an ineffective performance where he just shows up to go 12 rounds and claim Canelo couldn’t stop him and that he was actually robbed of a decision.
I hope BJS can give Canelo a challenge like I foresee. I think he can. Canelo will win a close, clear fight though.Comment

This is a good response. Plus Cotto’s been more resistance to many boxers at 154+. Canelo vs Cotto was a chess match but Nelo wasn’t really as aggressive. Plus Canelo carried Cotto imo, out of respect. And yes, Cotto was on the defensive retreat when he was hurt for good reason. And lastly, a lot of posters don’t hit the gym. Canelo is stronger more than ever because he’s not draining as he did at 154-155. Canelo’s not even that big imo but he’s a naturally hard hitting guy. Just like Sweet Pea or Floyd whose physiques you’d think otherwise, but they had pop up to 147.Different styles, different fights.
Cotto even at that point was still a slick fighter with great footwork. Canelo was coming up in weight as well and was still a fairly young fighter. Plus Cotto was on that bicycle pretty much the second half of the fight and didn’t engage as much as a GGG or Kov did.
Had Cotto gone for it he may have been KO’d like Kov as well. He was in survival mode.
GGG and Kov fought a prime Canelo.
Canelo is the breed of boxer that has so much experience that he enjoy and bets on his opponents “mistakes,” what we see in his countering ability. A lot of boxers aren’t committed to counter punching anyways. Kovalev was getting tagged by a faster guy in Canelo because he’s smaller than most LHWs. As a matter of fact, Canelo is slowest at LHW for good reason as well since his power punching and extra weight would have to have him focus on less movement and more on conservation with counters which works perfect with stamina, especially going against a bigger foe.
Canelo is the best in the game at heavy (water) bag work imo, particularly combos too. The left hook that he whaler on Kovalev is what we see him do in the gym all the time when he loads up. Kovalev took that to the ear and got shook. Nite niteComment

He had been at 155 for over 18 months at that point. Not really considered moving up in weight when you've been there for that length of time.Different styles, different fights.
