Guy is a clown and an embarrassment to UK boxing. He wins a robbery against ryder yet turns his nose up at a shot at canelo thinking he's some star who deserves bigger money even though he brings in no money himself . That will be biggest money offer he ever gets

I’m pretty sure Smith is kicking himself right now he knows he blew it big time.Comment

I didn't like neither Saunders or Smith for Canelo's next fight. But I rather it was Saunders from the two.
These guys hold out a bit too much. They have to look at it if they believe in themselves and they win the sky is the limit.Comment

He didn't make 10M LMAO and the WBSS has never released the fight by fight purses. They released a number of what the total prizes for all the winners was but no breakdown per fight or per division. There was a report the total prizes for Super Middleweight was 8M but that likely is broken up for the entire tournament meaning the most you would win by becoming champion not what he won for 1 fight against Groves. He fought 3 fights in the WBSS and made probably 8M in total winnings for all those fights.
Smith or his team haven't said that Canelo's offer wasn't by far his career payday for 1 fight. And bringing up total winnings for a entire tournament just to equal the amount he turned down for 1 fight against Canelo doesn't help his case. He had to fight 3 times to make what Canelo offered 1 night
Agreed, he didn't make 10 million. If he had, the ESPN report would have said he earned 10 million. But it didn't. Read it again. (LINK: https://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/...ba-world-title)
It suggests he got the lion's share of a 10 million purse. For the final. If you disagree, take it up with ESPN.
The total prize fund for the WBSS is 50million bucks across two weight divisions. Assuming equal for each weight division is 25 million per weight class. With the winner taking more than half (source: https://www.businessinsider.com/worl...acquiao-2017-8).
And we are in agreement that Smith's team haven't said anything about Canelo's offer being a career payday.... They implied it was a lowball offer. It's everyone else saying it. Hence my quote of the literal words out of ODLH's mouth; the substance of the article on which we are commenting; and other comments in this thread.Comment

Exactly
But that’s the issue they DONT believe they can win so they wanna maximize they’re purses.Comment

Just seen Roy Jones about a week ago talk about how he took 60/40 to fight James Toney
These fighters today are not built like that, I think A LOT OF THEM KNOW they're really not that good so they kinda want to continue to get the consistent money meaning that they get $1-2 Million (a lot of them rumored to make even more than that) to beat on guys who pose as no threat rather than to step up for a few more Millions and run the risk of losing and getting embarrassed DESPITE the fact that they would be getting the most money they have ever made in return
Canelo and GBP don't OWE nobody anything, either you take the opportunity and run with it and do everything you can to get the win over Canelo which will go viral and get you instant Viral Headlines or continue to fight John Rydar's of the world and other Domestic UK Level guys for whatever Hearn wants to Pay Him and eventually get upset by one of these lower level guys and ruin any chance of getting a shot and another bigger paydayLast edited by sicko; 03-10-2020, 05:55 PM.Comment

This POS and his rètardèd comments man. He still arguing that these dudes no one knows outside hardcore boxing fans have leverage That the Allege 7-8 million is not enough. He argues that it would look bad on Canelo for not fighting them on their own terms rather than someone else cheaper. I would definitely won't care to see him fighting someone else knowing these cowards (Plant, 6'3", 195 pounder Callum Smith, Charlo, and BJS) of course i would not mind seeing him fight someone with the balls to face him, as that person would have way more of a chance to beat Canelo than these cowards sitting on their åsses pretending to want the fight but hideing behind the low ball excuse. Especially when Canelo set the example vs Floyd & Cotto.Last edited by whoseyourdaddy; 03-10-2020, 07:05 PM.Comment

Nobody here, so far as I know, has seen the contract offered. If it contained a weight clause (and what are the chances it didn't?) then that has got to be worth a lot more than just a straight up offer to fight.Comment
