Loma is a great fighter but I can’t see him beating Pernell. It might look a lot like Whitaker vs Azumah Nelson

I see this as a tactical chess match. Whitaker would have the reach advantage so Loma would have to press. I would like to break it down a little more before saying who wins and how.

Loma is an atg based on what? Wins over Walters, Russell jr and rigo? Lol

Basically this. Considering Sweet Pea’s power up to 147, keeping bigger guys like DLH and Tito at bay, and Luke Campbell or Linares able to get some shots on Loma...Vasily would have to be on his Defensive A Game and roll shots better than ever because I think one hard shot down the pipe from Sweet Pea would be nite nite. I don’t see it going 12 tbh

I got Lomachenko by Split or Unanimous decision

The same way Pernell lost to De la Hoya will he how he loses to Lomachenko. Just wont be active enough to warrant winning despite making his opponent miss.

While Loma might miss a lot, pernell should most likely miss most of his as well. The difference would be, in my opinion, the facr that Loma is a pressure fighter and will appear more active.

Just like De La Hoya, despite looking a fool at times, he still got the UD. Ring generalship.

                  The thing with that is...

                  So did Rigondeaux(68"), Linares(69") and Campbell(71").

                  To Whitaker's 69" reach.

Now they dont have the same styles. Im just pointing out how the reach thing isnt really a factor.

Without getting into the validity of the Sweet Pea ODLH score...I
overall tend to agree with your post...that while Pernell at 135 will probably be more talented than Loma, Pernell had a tendency to coast at times, and Loma activity would keep him in the fight, and in a lot of rounds.

I could see him stealing a 7-5 decision on my card....similar to how Canelo stole it from Lara on my card by that same score.

Reach definitely isn't the be-all, end-all, which is why I said I would like to break the matchup down further.

Those guys did have reach on Loma, however none of them bring what Whitaker would bring to the table (you could argue for Rigondeaux but Rigo is a bantamweight who had no business up at 130).

My thought is that when you're talking about high-level matchups, reach can become more of a factor than it would be if one guy is that far superior to his opponent.
